Well, y2k being shot is hilarious. The vigilante is clearly someone pretty inexperienced and also someone eager to be a hero - Bo shooting wouldn't make sense until the day end. This will be useful information later; but they're not a high priority right now.

I disagree that there is nothing to go on right now. The Cultists and the Masons both know who their partners are. So there are definitely *some* interactions to look for that could flag this up.

I was going to disagree with y2k that nobody should be claiming traitor: quite simply; everybody will be claiming traitor. The Mafia PR's need to blend in. The town will be hiding there. The Cult will be hiding there. There's no role that has an interest in claiming its real identity right now. So traitor claims are something we can just ignore.

Going on to people:

Bo's "townslip" is probably fake. I don't think he'd really be that stupid, I think it was pretty clear bait. I also think it guarantees him an early death of some sort though, so I don't really care about him now. If there's one thing that ensures you die early in this setup; it's drawing huge attention to yourself.

The inverse of that is also true though - by lurking, you will also be drawing attention to yourself due to the rabid lurker hunters. So really, the most suspicious people will be the ones trying to avoid lurking without adding much.

I have small mafiareads (ie. good) on OBG and Vashta right now. I do not want to lynch them.

I have small scumreads (bad!) on Chaqa, Jamie, and Balki right now.

I do not think hurrying this day is a good plan.

Bait for what? Faked for what purpose? I think the best part about that read is that there is absolutely no reason to "fake" what Bo did. Is it possible it was just a mistake? Yes. But faked? Why would anyone fake a townslip?

interesting take HR, but i think the shot might be fired just to get the ball rolling, spice things up. Or it might be that vig just got bored and want to watch the world burn. There is no point finding him cause knowing his identity won't help much. he might get converted during the night. Depending on which role you are playing, he might even have just did a big favor

Did you not see how many reactions it got? It's been one of the main talking points of the game.

Also, I think HR's stated criteria that he is looking for someone who is avoiding drawing attention to himself is a useful criteria. But there is no way I meet that criteria. I'd like for HR to explain his unexplained "scumread" on me.

I'm curious as to why you want to call off the search for the Vig, given that he could kill two more of our Mafia team.... unless you're on the Town/Mason team yourself?

So you think Bo faked a townslip in order to get reactions? Reactions for what purpose? Why would someone in this setup try to make people think they are town, just to get "reactions"? I think that is the least plausible explanation.

Looks to me to be a genuine misunderstanding of the traitor role. And I think that a person is more likely to have such a misunderstanding if they have not read the traitor role carefully. And I think that a person least likely to read the traitor role carefully is a non-traitor.

If Bo is a non-traitor, then he has a 7/10 chance of being Cult/Town. I suspect he is the best lynch target we'll find today.

The vigilante just essentially hipfired a traitor after less than 24 hours. Do you see that as threatening? I don't. Them wasting shots on traitors is a good thing. It also makes the masons more likely to mason someone they don't want to (or a cult member). All of which is good for us. The vigilante can do what they like in my eyes; they won't be a threat until there's a significant amount of masons, and at that point they'll only be a threat because they will be able to claim vigilante and be unlynchable when we're busy chasing masons - not because of their shots.

As for why you're on there, Balki - I don't like the hammering of the day. I said higher up that I disagreed that there was nothing to go on right now - that was aimed at you.

@HR, saying "I don't like something" is not the same as defending your "scumread" of me. I explained above why voting to hammer is not alignment indicative. If you think it is alignment indicative, then please explain your thought so that everyone else can understand.

By your own logic -- that you are looking for someone who is trying to avoid attention -- I would think that voting to hammer is one of the least "scummy" things that one could do.

I reckon I should be prime candidate for a Vig read. I literally posted I would be off for a few hours and during this time there was a shot? Very fishy. Also, I'm the new guy.

The only reason I could have to kill Y2k is that I wanted to save Bo. Y2k wasn't really leading the wagon or anything, but you have to set an example?

I said "slight". I did not say that was the *only* criterion. And I do think that it's notable how you backed off it, jumping on to Bo, quite quickly when pressured on it.

Balki has done plenty to draw attention to himself. HR's logic is flawed.

If you want to avoid being lynched, don't defend yourself from arguments that have not been made. It's probably the single scummiest thing someone can do.

It's not sensible. HR is right. Interrogating yourself in public looks weird and it makes it look like you are actually trying to hide something else.

@Jamiet: I'd be very interested to hear what you've uncovered of who might be the Vig. I feel it dóes offer us useful information, even though that person has no idea who their teammates are.

Hellenic Riot: Made a concerted effort to stop captainmeme and myself investigating the Vigilante's identity. Could be trying to protect himself.

brainbomb: His expression of shock looks fake, he likes to act randomly, and he was also critical of the investigation.

Also a slight suspicion on ghug, who was online at the time, but not posting in the thread - bit lurky. Plus it's ghug.

@Jamie: Would you say voting within that group of 6 makes a lot of sense then as it increases the odds of finding cultmaster or mason?
