Manwe Sulimo (325 D)

Or here's another thought. Use Rumania to cut support to Vienna. You can not use that unit for anything else, and I'll be able to take Vienna guaranteed if you do this. I can start moving towards Turkey to help you get in there. You can have all of the Turkish centers along with the centers bordering the Black Sea. It will be much easier for you to break into Turkey if you help me get into Austria. I need confirmation from you that your aid will be given before the next turn comes around.
jengamaster (2132 D)

Manwe vowing to the me up indefinitely and Turkey and Russia embroiled in an epic battle.

Is there any way I can put up points wagering that ghug finishes the game with the most supply centers?
jengamaster (2132 D)
31 Aug 17 UTC
Or I should say Germany; I would not wish to presume.
ghug (5068 D(B))
31 Aug 17 UTC
Seeing as I'm Germany and Turkey, the odds are probably a bit in my favor. I don't like counting chickens though.

Manwe, why would he need to confirm now? It's not changing your moves.
Tom Bombadil (4023 D(G))
31 Aug 17 UTC
I'd bet $20 ghug isn't even in this game, and that some lucky GER is riding his coattails.
jengamaster (2132 D)
31 Aug 17 UTC
Manwe, please do not try to turn Russia against me. And you are wrong of course. Russia could use Rum to not piss off another neighbor. That would be an excellent use of Rum.
ghug (5068 D(B))

Tom PM me for routing number
ghug (5068 D(B))

The best use of Rum is eggnog.

I bet that the real german player mutes all threads on the moment of there creation and doesn't even know what's happening.
Tom Bombadil (4023 D(G))

Don't need a routing number. I'd hand deliver it to you.

Also, ghug, no. Orange Juice is best. And it prevents scurvy. Got to stay healthy in the Caribbean.

Thanks for filling in last phase though. You were perfect.
Ogion (3882 D)

More to the point, Germany made precisely the same offer to me last year that he is making to England now. How do you think that's going to work out?
ghug (5068 D(B))
31 Aug 17 UTC
What offer is that?
Dan-i-Am 88 (348 D)
31 Aug 17 UTC
Yeah I haven't made any offer to England!
Tom Bombadil (4023 D(G))
31 Aug 17 UTC
How come nobody wants to make an offer to me? (besides ghug's generous offer to fondle me).

ENG: I can move to Ruhr. This guarantees you Belgium. But I'm hesitant to do so because of your position. What assurances can you make me?
jengamaster (2132 D)
31 Aug 17 UTC
Tom I think that you should move at Ruhr even w/o assurances. Allow me to elaborate. Either England recognizes the threat and takes steps to neutralize it. Or he does not. If he does it slows the expanding Germany and it may allow you two to bury the hatchet. If he does not then Germany will devour England and while you will be screwed as well, at least you can scream "I told you so" or mutter "idiot." Win win. :)
Tom Bombadil (4023 D(G))
31 Aug 17 UTC
I understand that thought jenga, but I don't know I agree with the end options. If ENG does not see the light, I aim to let GER waltz in and take my centers. I will absolutely make sure that ENG has the harder time. The bigger GER gets the better.

I'll consider moving to Ruhr regardless, since Bur can be forced anyhow, but there are other options such as moving to Munich and hoping for Italian support.
ghug (5068 D(B))
31 Aug 17 UTC
Can we stop overhyping the German threat? I get it from Tom. I kinda get it from Ogion, though I don't see much need for EG to proceed past St.P.

I don't pose any threat to AIT right now, and I'm obviously not going to stab England with this many people expressing these sentiments.
Ogion (3882 D)
31 Aug 17 UTC
Actually, with North Sea sitting wide open, you are going to stab England. You can have all of Scandinavia and Edinburgh by the end of next year unless something rolls in to stop you
ghug (5068 D(B))
31 Aug 17 UTC
I didn't say I wasn't a threat to him, I said I'm not going to because it would be stupid.

You don't survive long with nine centers and no friends.
jengamaster (2132 D)
31 Aug 17 UTC
Generally nine centers and no friends is not a path to success. But if every other power hates someone else more than they hate you, then the lack of friends is less important.

Tom I doubt Italy has any desire to help you gain a center. But if you make it publicly known you are attacking Ruhr he might take Munich because it would be underfunded. Because Italy does seem like the selfish sort.

Unless most other Diplomacy maps, Empire4 is not very balanced and a few nations have severe disadvantages that make it very difficult for them to win while others are fairly overpowered. I can explain more if someone wants to ask.

Rival/hatred game variant
I'd like to play a game mode where each player is secretly given a unique rival (so no two players share a rival), and the only players counted at the end of the draw are those who have both survived and eliminated their rival. A solo doesn't need to eliminate their rival and rivals aren't necessarily symmetrical.

Unknown Player in Anonymous Private Game
I'm completely new to Diplomacy and this website. I made a private game and explained to my friends how to join my private match. Though only 2 people say they've joined, I have 3 anonymous players other than myself registered. Is it possible one of them joined twice? I know by the time stamps that it was one of the first two players who joined the game, the times are only a minute apart, and I am wondering if the small time frame is just a player joining twice.

Vale Hugh Hefner
Hugh Hefner dies at age 91. A controversial character, extremely successful businessman, championed some Liberal causes, gay rights, marriage equality, Native American rights, gave many authors a break, eg Alex Haley, but also it has to be said, contributed to the objectification of women and exploited women for financial gain.

[Suggestion] Alternate winning conditions
vDiplomacy has a way to set up "alternate winning conditions", e.g. to customize how many turns are played and/or how many SCs need to be conquered before a winner is declared. For example, we can have a game of Classic running for 14 turns (Fall 1907).

FFS WHY?
Why does online Diplomacy give me Germany to start with in every single game I sign up for?
Seriously, does it use region-based IP-checking? Because I'd really like to try out different countries and strategies.
And no, taking over Leavers doesn't count because you always get a losing position way past the point of getting a proper strategy rolled out (that's why the original player threw the game)
