3. If a COUNCIL member is not qualified to sign someone up why are they on the council? Why is a council member jokingly editing sign up lists in tight setups?

PE himself was even confused by it. It was more than a joke as it wasnt corrected for several days and bumped the setup to 24 players.

Let me clarify my comments: I think brainbomb has the right of it in that for a very large showing of interest like this, multiple games would be appropriate. It becomes exceedingly difficult to play even a remotely reasonable town game with this level of interest if everyone were to play one game, and obviously turning away people who want to play sucks, too.

I am not one of those who wants in, I simply added my thoughts as someone who has hosted mafia games a time or two. =)

Maybe Vash should run the matrix setup I was working on where half the players play in a normal mafia game while the other half are in a crazy complicated red pill world.

I didn't sign up for sub because: a) hokey pete you already have replacements coming out of your ears, b) this is a busy time of year. I COULD play... but I would be accused of lurking. Which means I would just join and wish I was being lynched. That is not a good mental mode to be in this game. c) I am simply undecided. (PS... I think two games would be a grand thing. I am not sure I would sign up till after the first of the year...)

I don't want two games going at once. I want one big clusterfuck of a game with drama, action, love, hate, and implied homoerotic volleyball games.

This isn't a game that uses the rules or mechanics of diplomacy. It takes place entirely on the forum, through discussion, detection, deduction, bluffing, and persuasion, and persuasion. You're welcome to play, but if you've never encountered the game before I *highly* recommend reading/skimming through these so you get a feel for what the game is, and what it's like. Otherwise, you might not have much fun.

re: two games at once -

All jokes aside, two games is something to consider, given the size of the player pool/subs. However, we ought to consider what factors might contribute to needing subs - new players, holiday dropouts, etc. I'm game for whatever the council/GMs decide.

If there's two games I want to play in both, as I haven't missed any mafia game except the M11 new players game and the one y2k started while I was on vacation.

If there is to be a second game I have a suggestion. The start time for the second game should be staggered with the first. That way people in Game #2 can spectate the first day or so of Game #1, whilst people killed early in Game #1 will still have Game #2 going on.

Secondly, if there is to be a second game, I'm running it. It's my turn.

The mod team is still opposed to having multiple mafia threads on the forum. I'm a fan of smaller games, and if our player base keeps growing we may have to institute some sort of waiting list for future games, which sucks, but this is a forum game we play on a diplomacy website, not a mafia forum.

We have other venues. Two different discord groups, epic mafia, ghugs basement. Plenty of places for overflow games

The forum is either lots of mafia and less toxic hate. Or less mafia and more toxic hate. I really don't see the issue with running two games if that's the reason provided as to why we shouldn't.

As mentioned I have no problem running it offsite. Although I don't want to step on people's toes. If Jamiet is willing to run a game offsite I will defer to him, and if we aren't going to have enough people to play without plundering the sub list I don't want to make life harder on Vash.

If we do go ahead with this I'm looking at a 10 person variant, though I could make it work with anywhere from 8-12.

@prado IMO, discord works really well for realtime overflow. What makes you suggest groupme instead?
