A Call for Blind Diplomacy Voting (only see your own votes)

Diplomacy should be carried out through your moves, and if press is allowed, through your press, but not through voting signals. Some conspiracy theorists believe their are hidden meanings in unusual votes -- in my experience it is b/c of us cell phone players with fat fingers... Gunboat should not have this communication tool, and in press you can reveal or lie about your votes all you like...

why the pause?

Why did the game pause? I never voted, I dont think everyone has noticed as they have all readied up, but not voted unpause :(

An actual philosophy variant

Choose a philosophical school of thought. If the philosopher fundamentally changed during his writing career, you must also choose which text(s) you will be following. Then, you must hold to that philosophy in all discussions and movements. Why not PP, 5

, 50hr phases, WTA, orders must be announced. If someone can demonstrate how a proposed action goes against your philosophy, you may not take that action and must do something else. Critiques?

These are the facts:
There is a very attractive Russian scientist in my department
She is really hot.
She’s significantly older than me (40+ or so?)
But still really, really, hot.
Did I mention she speaks with a Russian accent?
So sexy.
When I was joking about having sexy dreams about co-workers…
…she expressed disappointment that it wasn’t about her.
When I hinted I might have a little scheme involving her…
… she said she would be waiting impatiently

Number 3 until you can get number 1 in place. But be careful as even Russian's can sue for sexual harrassment and SH doesn't have to be between boss and underling any more. It can be anything that makes the "workplace intolerable".

Look, I get the Russian thing (personally a fan of Chinese and Japanese ladies, but married a very German one). But again, that whole "intolerable workplace" thing comes into play even if she is your boss. So be careful.

Flirt back in a clear way when she says something like wishing the dreams were about her etc., in a strong yet not creepy way, get a good response and go for 1 (or some variation of it). Definitely go for it though - option 3 is only good like Draug said.

God I wish I could honestly say option 2, it would be so funny. Oh and cool if it worked out ;)

@Bob - I think Germany builds some quite fine women too. But of course, outside of my love for the Asian element, the Swedes build the best women.

I gotta agree with Draugnar there. When I was in Stockholm I was reminded of nothing so much as how American women are either way too big or way too little. So few of them achieve that voluptuous awesome that you see on every street in Sweden.

Americans are stupid enough to think lean = sexy, therefore the leaner you are, the sexier you are.

I saw some really fucked up ad for a diet drink or something that had this anorexic chick talking about losing weight and how she hoped to get 5 more pounds off or some shit. Talk about fucked up in the US.

Now Canada (at least Vancouver, BC and Calgary, Alberta) have some hot chicks. And you see them just walking down the street in downtown going to work and what not.

The US wouldn't know real beauty if it sat on our collective face. I want curves. Not Twiggy and not huge shelf asses either. Just some nice Kate Winslet curves with a touch of softness to them.

I have a friend who works in the fitness/health industry and she posts things on facebook that call women with 30% body fat obese (she uses that word). She's not doing it as an insult, she's passing it off as a fact in her profession. Of course, 30% is medically within the average range for a normal woman.

We're so fucked.

Well I'm just saying, if you had to pick between a person with a glorious voluptuous female body but happened to have a dick, or alternatively, a muscle-bound bearded adonis with a hairy chest a vagina, to me the choice is clear. I like female curves.

The genitals just aren't terribly important when it comes to what I find attractive. I'm not INTO that, It's just not terribly relevant.

Why, which would you guys pick? There is no wrong answer, it doesn't make you gay, I'm just curious. And don't give me that "I find both ideas equally repulsive" nonsense. You find one of these concepts more appealing than the other, I know you do.

Pick them for what purpose? For a sexual relationship both are simply unsuitable. It'd be like asking a hungry man whether he'd prefer to eat a rotten tomato or a block of wood carved in the shape of an apple. For a long term relationship with children and such one is impossible and the other highly unlikely. For friendship both seem fine. For a rugby scrum the muscle bound one without a dick sounds pretty much ideal.

You gotta bang one, that's all I'm saying. And if you're being honest with yourself, you find one of these archetypes more sexually appealing than the other. I absolutely pick the curvy one. Even though the other one is female by gender, I'm quite turned off by masculine body styles.

Would I rather there was no wang involved? Sure. But at my basest level, it's not nearly as important.

Server upgrade

Thanks for everyone's patience during the server upgrade, for some reason it took them three hours, so it took much longer than I expected. I've added time to all games, if anyone spots anything out of place let me know.
On the bright side once this has settled down the server should have more capacity..

How does one leave a game?

I have no intentions of leaving any games I'm in, but I invited a friend to join the site and he joined a bunch of games, then decided he just didn't understand the game. Rather than stick around and ruin things for everyone, I've convinced him to just leave but I don't see that option anywhere. Help?

Why does anyone play live gunboat games?

Don't get me wrong, they're fun enjoyable things to do, even though I'm not too good in them myself, but, NMRs and CDs are rampant, and you get opportunistic wankers that refuse to draw/cancel even though everyone else has their draw/cancel votes up and game ettiqute demands that they do so, so I ask, why does anyone play them?

Repeat Messages?

Did the new updates come with a feature for preventing posting the same messages you already did? I posted the link to the email the mods about unpausing games, but I ended up having to add something to the beginning of the post, to get around a message that told me to make repeat messages.
Doesn't matter that much, but it seems like it could be annoying at times

Can someone explain the draw of the Gunboat?

To me, the entire thrill of this game is in the formation of alliances and the negotiations between players. With that being said, I absolutely don't understand the draw of the Gunboat games--it takes out the best part. If I'm looking for pure strategy, I'll take games like Axis and Allies (despite the "luck factor" or even chess). What am I missing about Gunboat games?
