March madness 2013!!!
In this 2013 basketball season it has been filled with upsets and well the battle of the better teams. I personally think the final four will be Michigan state Spartans, Indiana Hoosiers, Florida gators, and Michigan wolverines. Now knowing selection Sunday hasn't happened I thought I would have a little college basketball talk with people over America or out side who follow the college basketball association. What do people think will happen in the tournament. Thoughts?

In the thread: threadID=982959 - hecks made an excellent proposal:

What doea your name mean?
Some people have obvious references to historical or fictional characters, others are some form of their name (like mine, my name really is Phil) but for those with more cryptic names, I'm curious where they came from.

Some that I know from previous posts - draugnar is Tolkien elvish for some kind of wolf, Nigee is a name one of his friends used to call him, etc. But what about Bosox, mapu, sbyvyl, redhouse, abgemacht, etc. ?

Mapu is the nickname we used to give to our dog. I joined here to play with IRL friends and just picked something quickly and randomly. I wish I picked something different, like Dark_Passenger.

Well, I'm new so nobody cares, but it's a play on words-- Faerie Godmother and the Godfather. As in "The Winter Court is going to make you can offer you can't refuse".
Abgemacht is, of course, a german phrase. Just use google, man.

philcore (317 D(S))
11 Mar 13 UTC
Dan, couple things, first, a single word isn't a phrase. Second, not everything is googlable. Try googling draugnar and you'll just find a bunch of posts on corvette sites and cigar sites amd an amazon review of a james bond movie by a guy named bob. Third, where is Ajax code for 'a'? I know military and airlines use alpha, and police use Adam, who uses Ajax?

These are the things that keep me up at night.

And since you already googled angemacht, save me the effort and tell me what it means auf deutsch
philcore (317 D(S))

Bosox, I thought it was a play on Botox. See its not as obvious as you think. And -1 for your -1 comment fucktard (tm draugnar)

No, it really is. Sorry.
Saw a guy at church wearing a shirt that said "Yes, I'm one of those crazy Episcopalians". Between then and joining this site I moved to the Anglican Church. Hence Crazy Anglican. Side note: Since then I've joined the Methodist Church, so I guess Mad Methodist would be more accurate.

11 Mar 13 UTC
@abgemacht, why the clarification? I didn't misunderstand you the first time. Its still a bad suggestion, whether you agree with it or not. Just cause it might work for your name, doesn't mean it'll work for sbyvl. And People like to talk about themselves, look at the A/S/O/L thread. Way more intrusive than a question about your name, yet people were glad to share ( including myself, btw ) so share or ignore, don't make a shit to me.

My username is from a creative writing class I took back in high school. For a group project, we came up with a duck as the main character of our story, and at one point in the narrative, as a play on "ducky wucky," we had "dubby wubby" as an epithet for the duck. Anyway, the "dub" part comes from that, the "dell" comes from the location of the duck's hometown, and finally, instead of "give 'em hell," the main character is encouraged at one point to "dub 'm dell."

I also joined the site with a group of friends, hence, I chose an inside joke without thinking of the lysdexic repercussions. :P

@dubmdell - yours was another I was curious about. Good story. Thanks for sharing that completely Un-googlable explanation. I really thought it was a mistyping of dumbbell :-). I've probably even called you that before in a reply.

There's was a mod back in the day whose real name I still don't know but for a similar reason I always saw it as crispymints. Perhaps if I knew the rationale behind his name I would have said it differently in my mind. But he'll always be crispymints to me :-)
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

That was Chrispminis. I'm pretty sure it was just a contraction of his name.

@abgemacht: "Yeah, but he was just suggesting you google me in particular. That's why I AGREED with him, so that one of the names you were wondering about could be SETTLED."

I wasn't really asking about your name in particular. I was trying to give those who have interesting stories about why they chose the name they did an opportunity to share those stories. Yours was just one example of the few that came to mind. Googling what it means in German doesn't tell me why you chose it. That's what I'm more interested in.

philcore (317 D(S))

Chrispminis! That was him. What ever happened to him?
And dingleberry jones! by the way jimgov, as far as my memory serves, dingle was the one who started the -1 thing back in the day.

And what about jimgov, yellbells, hecks and ghug? What's the story there?
semck83 (229 D(B))

"Agreed. Abgemacht means Agreed."

Dude, you totally need to start just posting your own name (and nothing else) at the end of a forum discussion where you've reached common ground. That would be pretty sweet. Like, "Steve Holt!"
philcore (317 D(S))
11 Mar 13 UTC
@abgemacht: ok that was funny now that you've explained it +1 for that. You capped AGREED every time you responded as a clue ... Nice!

The Most Conservative Contest
The question is: Who on the WebDip forums is the most Conservative? It shouldn't be too hard to figure out, as there are only a handful of Conservatives on this site (Krellin, Draug, ConservativeMan and myself come to mind). So in order to figure it out, we will post our positions on the issues here, and let the others decide.
