WTA vs PPSC
A frequent debate on this site. I'm of the WTA camp as I disdain the "strong second" PPSC mentality.
It seems that the inventor of the game, Allan Calhamer shared this view, arguing that the WTA objective provided for much more interesting end game drama.

DILK has gone AWOL so we need someone to take over a FP and GB game. If we can't get one person to do both, then I'd be more than happy to find a different person to do each game.

Roman Legions vs. Mongol Hordes
To commemorate the 807th anniversary of the grand Quriltai which saw Temujin elected as Genghis Khan, I ask who would win a battle between a force of Mongols and a slightly larger force of Roman legions (for the sake of discussion, we will say from the late republic/early empire period) in a head-to-head matchup? Please discuss.

Is war between Russia and England more or less inevitable?
The Norway-StP corridor is very hard to DMZ. Perhaps conflict will always occur. I at least cannot think of a time in recent memory that they went the whole game without fighting (barring an early elimination of one or both).

Discouraging country based resigns thought...
Webdip uses a country weighting system where the more often you have been a country, the less a chance you have of being it again and vice versa. So how about use that to deal with people that abandon a game because they got a country they don't like?

Is it just because I'm in college or what?
Does anyone else have the experience that the time when gender issues and parity come most the fore is when a coed group of people goes partying together? Shit just happens and you have to make decisions based on that stuff more often than in normal life. At least I feel that way. Thoughts?

So has obiwanobiwan finally matured and can I take him off my mute list?
Obi need not answer. I won't see it. But does anyone else want to chime in with their opinion so I can decide if it is safe to take him off? I kind of miss his long winded posts, but he got so over the top with his youthful insistence he knew everything I had to mute him or kill him before his 21st birthday, and I thought the former was the better option.

Drau, I dont know how Obi used to be, but obi drags race into just about everything, no matter how far removed the topic is, and that makes me want to mute him also, but I have not because I have notmuted anyone yet.
Draugnar (0 DX)
13 Jul 12 UTC
Well, he used to be long-winded but at least talked about subjects of interest and in which he had a little knowledge, but recently he has soudned like a liberal TC (who despite being a conservative has also been muted by yours truly) and, to make matters worse, he never ever thinks anyone else may have an idea or even a glimmer of a clue of an idea. Only obi is right in his mind and the real world when he gets out of academia is going to chew him up and spit him back out where he'll run home to mommy, but she'll have already turned his room into a sauna.
Stressedlines (1559 D)
13 Jul 12 UTC
Drau, I think you hit on the other thing about Obi that often irks me.

He is spewing his PoV without any real world experience, which will alter those views probably, and maybe even be earth shattering.

What he says often is the the same things I heard when I was in college. Just regurging some liberal professors thoughts, who also has no real world experience...lol
SacredDigits (102 D)

If anything, he's upgraded the amount of disdain that he showers on random crap while simultaneously praising stuff that really isn't all that different. I stopped taking him seriously when he went on and on and on about how Stephen King is awful because he's produced a lot of stuff and writes to make money, but Shakespeare was great because he produced a lot of stuff and wrote to make money. And inserting into there how some director who was making a sequel to a movie where the character rode off into the sunset to cash in on the popularity of the previous films was ruining his integrity and could learn from a list of authors including Conan Doyle, who brought Sherlock Holmes back from death to cash in on the popularity of previous installments but somehow maintained integrity.

If he don't like it, it's bad and probably has race as a base to it. If he likes it, it can do no wrong.
SacredDigits (102 D)

I mean, let me say that unlike Draug and Stressed, I'm a pretty liberal sort of guy.

But he's kind of like that liberal that gives us all a bad name by mixing enormous amounts of self-aggrandizement with complete inability to concede anything to anyone else with a healthy dose of hypocrisy and poorly researched opinions thrown in.
Draugnar (0 DX)

Thanks SD. Kind of like TC as a conservative (or the whole fucking tea party movmenet, but that's another discussion) gives those of us with a small government, fiscally conservative, but social obligation to our fellow man, (i.e. the majority of the conservatives who believe in helping but not handouts), a bad name.

He reminds me of the punk in Good Will Hunting at the bar spewing forth the latest shit he learned from his professor. You know, the one where Will put him in his place...

Is this the part where Draug's ego makes him confuse himself with Good Will Hunting?
SacredDigits (102 D)
13 Jul 12 UTC
I'm not muting him because I'm waiting for the day he suddenly starts smoking pot and getting laid, because that's the path he's invariably on and I think it will be hilarious to witness.
Celticfox (100 D(B))

oooo that would be amusing. How old is he anyways?
Draugnar (0 DX)
13 Jul 12 UTC
Oh hell no. I'm much smarter than Will. :-)

Just kidding. Actually, no I'm not. He is a fictional character and, as such, has no actual intellect. He can't take an IQ test or be examined and studied and questioned for real, so we are all smarter than him.

No, I don't see myself as Will. But I do see Obi as one of those bratty "my professor says and he is a god." perpetual students who probably go on to become their professor instead of getting real jobs in the privaste sector.

@SD - But he is non-sexual, remember? He has no interest in sex at all. Of course, how he could posiibly write anything on the human condition without having experienced it to the full, one can only conjecture.
Stressedlines (1559 D)
13 Jul 12 UTC
I am very conservative, I make no bones about it, and I think Romney and obama are just 2 sides of the same coin, and neither interests me at all.

TC Ihave read here and there, and Drau is right, he is the same thing as Obi.

Drau, that was a comparison, nothing else.

Draugnar (0 DX)
13 Jul 12 UTC
He also only eats for sustenance, doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, doesn't do drugs. In short, his is Mr. Data and will never comprehend the human condition if he doesn't change. He may as well be the anti-pope, head of the Atheist church. He is more or less like an Atheist version of the pope and just as removed from reality as his Catholic counterpart.
Stressedlines (1559 D)
13 Jul 12 UTC
wow, that last line should read "Drau, that was a good comparison. " not sure how the heck that got all twisted.
SacredDigits (102 D)

He'll be non-sexual until he gets laid. And then, he'll either be the complete toady of whoever fell on that grenade and disappear from here as he does her bidding or become some kind of weird laid back proto-beatnik.

I believe it'll be the former, but the latter would be funny.
Celticfox (100 D(B))
13 Jul 12 UTC
Ah he's young then. I had guessed but wasn't sure. I totally don't get the whole non-sexual thing. I'd like to say first BJ and that would all be over but I know a few guys who actually don't like em.
SacredDigits (102 D)
13 Jul 12 UTC
I didn't like BJ's until I got one from someone who actually knew what they were doing and was at least somewhat interested in doing it.

SacredDigits (102 D)

We live in a pretty selfish society. I'm sure there's just as many guys who aren't willing/won't learn how to perform cunnilingus. "If the end result of this act is pleasure for my partner with minimal if any pleasure for me, what's the point?" several people may ask.

Obviously, the point is that the more pleasure you give someone else the more pleasure they're likely to give you...oh wait, I mean doing things for the happiness of your partner should be your highest goal in life (if your partner is me).

As far as eating at the Y goes, it's my second favorite activity at the Y. Especially if it's nice and fresh. sorry to be crude, but honestly, cunnilingus can be very enjoyable for the giver too. Feeling the folds on your cheeks and rubbing your nose on the... Well, no more details.
