2WL: yes, I don't like full press, that's not my style, I prefer gunboats. Even though I have 2 games going on currently, which is full press, but as the list shows above, my last full press was finished on the 3rd of April. But looking at my positions I doubt I will move up on the full press list anytime soon :)

Why did you limit the Full Press list to WTA games only? The fact that winning a PPSC game is easier than winning a WTA game is already reflected by the GR methodology so I think there would be no problems including PPSC games, but it would increase the number of results, and thus, the representativity.

Looks to me like the gunboat formula in particular takes a long time to converge. For this run, are you still giving gunboat games a smaller variance in the gunboat-specific ratings? If so, you probably shouldn't be; it looks like there's a strong correlation between the number of games played and the rating when you fix the win/draw rates, which tells me games need to have a larger V for that list to make sense.

@CS, yes, the gunboat games are still being weighted at a quarter weight for the gunboat only category. It does make sense to remove that, good idea. I'll look into it, thanks.

I like this. Although, I have a question regarding something. I am top 20 in all of these lists, yet, I am about 70 or so in the combined. What causes this kind of difference? Does that mean I do poorly in PPSC games or what?

Also, I am sad to be behind all the gunboaters on the gunboat list, but happy that I beat them all on the WTA, non-live, full list. Perhaps my strengths are different than where I thought they were.

@Mr A, regarding PPSC vs. WTA, while the Ghost Ratings methodology treats the two differently, there is still value in separating the two. If all you do is play PPSC and go for wins and strong seconds, you will do well in the Ghost Ratings, but that is a very different skillset from doing well in WTA games. The purpose of the WTA category was to provide a ranking based on doing well in "normal" WTA games, thus the exclusion of PPSC, map variants, press variants, and live games.

Now I am curious about how a non-live wta gunboat ranking would be......

@Lando: Yeah, I found that an interesting surprise too. Of all the many gunboats we've played together, I only recall a handful (two in particular) of non-live full press games.

Seeing as it's your strength, I'd like to play a full press again with you if you're game.

What about rankings of classic, Public Press gunboat games where only the winner gets PPSC?

Forgive me... I'm a wee bit overcaffeinated at the moment and am on the verge of slap happy.

Can't say that I think the WTA or Gunboat rankings are that accurate of a skill indicator. Since I am ranked 259 in Gunboat and 590 in WTA and I am better at WTA and I almost never play gunboat. Interesting idea though.
