I'd be interested, though I can't really start games for another month :/

I dunno how quickly it would begin. I've got finals next week and my brother is having a wedding "open house" in June. A lot of this depends on the amount of interest, when players can start, etc. I'll put you on the list, though.

I'd be in, as long as it is PPSC with a relatively low pot and normal phase lengths. And no world map either. I hate the world map.

I'd love to see all the Press after the fact. Count me in.

I saw " I'd LOVE to get inside some of these guys' " and I thought, damn YJ, don't you have any standards or nothing. Even Vaft doesn't advertise himself like that on here, but then I remember that he is an unrepentant heathen jackass, and so it all made sense.

A great idea indeed. Although, I would only play WTA if possible.

I have 3 games finishing soon, so I'm up for anything anytime.

We could have multiple games. I'm sure there's plenty of interest for both PPSC and WTA.

I'm interested, though not for a week or two.

Two reasons why this idea is awesome:

1) Everyone can learn from it. It will be extremely valuable to new players to see all the press, but I think even the best players and veterans of the game will likely find a way to improve their play by examining a game like this.

2) Everyone will play their ass off because they realize that their press will be made public afterwards.lol

Thanks, everyone! I'm in development of a website to post the statistics of web-based Diplomacy onto, and I plan on posting the press onto that site to make it available to anyone who wants to read it, although those that play in the game receive first-dibs.

Oh, I'm not interested in getting into anymore games at the moment -the one game that I am in with YJ is more than enough to keep me busy, but I am willing to help out with the analysis and the statistics of WebDip.

Have you been talking to Vaft as well, Tru? Because I've been talking to him a bit and I'm going to try to help him out as well, and I can see this website thing being a good collaboration.

How would the site be different than the googlesite where GR is hosted now?

I think YJ has a good point that you could really pic any high profile, quality game and do this activity with permission of the seven players. I doubt anyone on the forums would really object to sharing their press from a long-dead game.

If you guys need site space and bandwidth, I have an unlimited supply. :-) Vaft is using some to host the current stats, but if you need a directory for this, let me know and I'll set it up along with FTP access to it for you like I did Vaft.

@dumbbell: i wouldnt necessarily have a problem in finding a veteran game and asking for messages but anymore players come and go quite frequently that most of the games would be missing a person.

Plus theres enough interest for volunteers that i dont need to go that route.

That and you might not get all the veterans to signoff on having their private press be released. It's a very touchy subject around here sometimes. :-)

If it starts after the Admin smackdown has finally eliminated me (so I have some points off the refil)), I'll join the WTA game.

Too true, draug. Thats what i was thinking. Ill add you to the list tho. I think we have only one person that wants PPSC and i prefer WTA as well. The only time i play PPSC is if i take over a CD in a game that happens to be PPSC.

This is a fantastic idea, Tru, and I'm highly interested in seeing how it ends up. It'd be nice to get the top people on it to see the masters at work, but if people are willing to give up their press, it'll be fun to watch to see how things go from all sides.
