To Mute or To Unmute Dip33, that is the question!
Yes, this is yet another poll surrounding the Dip33 phenomenon. I've had him muted for a while now, but it looks as though I might be missing out. Should I keep him muted or unmute the kid? Let me know in this latest "+1 Webdip Poll"

I'd love to mute him, but other duties require me not to mute an active player who wants in the leagues...

This is a tough day for our Dipshit33! Only 2 votes suggesting that I unmute him (one likely to come from the boy himself), and a tie for the means of his unmuting.

Is that gonna be his nickname? We have a diplofool already, but I was thinking D33 might become diplotool.
Cachimbo (1181 D)
21 Nov 11 UTC
Oh... I've been calling him Dipshit33 for quite a while now. But having not paid much attention to him since his muting, I haven't had much reason to refer to him. That would explain why you hadn't seen that name before.
I don't really care whether or not it becomes the usual way to refer to him. English being my second language, I don't think I've ever referred to anyone as "dipshit" before, and I just relish the opportunity to do so now.

I really like when I come to utter words in English for the first time, or use an expression adequately for the first time. I usually am able to notice when that happens, and I always take the time to revel in it for a minute when it does. Like "OOoooh! I've been meaning to use that one for soooo long!!! Check!" You know?
Draugnar (0 DX)

I had seen it before, but didn't know you were keeping it cause you had mentioned it much lately. And for English not being you primary language, you have an amazing grasp of it, my friend.

I likes the languages a lot. Me wants speak many.

As for the quality of my English, I have to keep reminding myself that I paradoxically owe much of it to... years of watching American TV. Not the least of which, Fresh Prince of Bel Air. But I also remember sitting in front of M.A.S.H. as a kid, when my parents would watch it. I remember the opening score quite well, and laughing at jokes I didn't understand just because of the canned laughters. My parents thought me a fool.

Never a Diplofool though...

French is my first language.

I have a passion for languages in general, and more particularly their respective "music" or tonalities. I understand Spanish fairly well, and I can read Italian and German too. I know some rudiments of Greek, but I have little reason to use any of these languages so my capacity for them has greatly diminished with the years. Generally, though, if you thrust me in a different linguistic environment, I can manage pretty well after a few weeks. Greek, for example, I picked up mostly from a one month trip around the Peloponnese, Athens and a few islands.

God, it's amazing. Even the intentional spoof of a bad English speaker at the beginning is spot on. I wish my non-computer, non-English languages were even a fraction as good as your English. I can sort of order a meal in a true local's restaurant in Germany and make my way around at the airport, on the trains, and get where I need to when I drive there. I can even manage to grocery shop at the market and shop at the open-air farmer's market. But I could never converse like you do. Truly impressive.

I was, of course, refering to your previous post with the regards to the bad English speaker spoof.

Cheers Draug!

I consider myself lucky, mostly... I mean, I'm not exactly responsible for having had the chance to be born with the necessary aptitudes. And the rest, I think passion took care of most of it.

It can be somewhat funny though, when you can easily pass as a native speaker of a language that is otherwise still fairly foreign to your understanding. During that trip in Greece, for example, I had a fairly extensive conversation with a guy I met on the beach, and I don't think he ever really got that I merely understood bits of what he was saying: my accent was good enough to make him believe I spoke fluently. As a result, I was (quite unknowingly) sold as a man whore the next day! The guy actually pimped me out! But that's a long story for some other day!

@Dipshit33 - Why are you trying to cause an international incident? Cachimbo didn't insult all Americans, just you. yet you go and use a nationalistic pejorative to insult Cachimbo.

@Cachimbo - Yes I plussed you!

I'm from Québec, but most here would tell you I don't sound it. Like I said, I actually enjoy paying attention to a language's music, and I think I've come to develop an accent which I thought suited my hearing of the French music better. I can still speak with a typical Québecois accent, but generally my French is said to be "international" French, which really only means that it can be easily picked up by anyone speaking the language, whether from France or Senegal (a little thought for our friend Thucy!)

Cachimbo (1181 D)

Since no one would tell me, I had to check myself.

And he did. That little dipshit called me a frog...

Are you aware, Dipshit33, that calling me thus is tantamount to calling a black man the infamous "N" word? So much is indeed what many sporting associations have come to in their decisions regarding the use of that word to abuse French speaking people from Canada, and more specifically Québec. And they're certainly not the only ones to have deemed it to be racist.

Considering your character and your past history here, it's really tempting to use that 'mistake' of yours as yet another reason to ask the mods to rid us of your foul presence. Call me a douchebag, an asshole, or throw at me any other insult and I will take it just fine. Replying to my minor insults with racism, however, strikes me as over the top and unjustifiable.

So, I'm trying out my friend's fire. I like the size much more than the ipad, but I still find the keyboard is too large to comfortably type on for a long time. If I traveled a lot, I think it would be cool for reading and watching video. So, thoughts on tablets?
