To Mute or To Unmute Dip33, that is the question!
Yes, this is yet another poll surrounding the Dip33 phenomenon. I've had him muted for a while now, but it looks as though I might be missing out. Should I keep him muted or unmute the kid? Let me know in this latest "+1 Webdip Poll"

Obama's Green Jobs Fiasco
Weren't the Green Jobs that the Obama administration subsidized with hundreds of billions of dollars supposed to lead job growth? What happened to that? Here is what happened.

The government’s own efforts to create jobs in the private sector have met with little success. It was announced yesterday that Solyndra LLC of Fremont California, a manufacturer of solar panel has filed for bankruptcy protection and has laid off its remaining 1,100 workers. The development is notable because the company was a veritable poster child of the Obama Administration. The president himself visited their facilities in May of 2010 and touted the company as the template for America’s “green technology” future. As a result of its politically advantageous profile the company was able to secure $535 million in loans guaranteed by the government.

But apparently government blessing does not guarantee market success. Unfortunately, Solyndra could not sell its products profitably despite the government support and cheerleading. Instead $535 million in investment capital was diverted from potentially money making enterprises to a money losing enterprise. This is what happens when government calls the shots.

President Obama's Green Jobs Pretense Is An Unmitigated Fiasco

http://www.forbes.com/sites/larrybell/2011/09/06/president-obamas-green-jobs-pretense-is-an-unmitigated-fiasco/

About half of the $186 million of federal weatherization funds California has spent so far produced a total of 538 full-time jobs during the last quarter. Another $59 million in state, federal and private money spent there for green job training resulted in only 710 placements, equivalent to an $82,000 subsidy for each.

A report issued by the Government Accountability Office, the investigatory arm of Congress, raised concerns last year about favoritism in awarding some stimulus loan guarantees. The Energy Department’s inspector general admitted to Congress that there might be reasons for such suspicion — that some contracts may have been steered to “friends and family.”

Stumping for stimulation back in January 2009, President Obama pledged: “We will put Americans to work in new jobs that pay well and can’t be outsourced—jobs building solar panels and wind turbines.” And just how well is this plan working out so far? Apparently not so great. The more taxpayer dollars our government dishes up for that green pork, the less appetizing it looks and smells.

Gresham’s Law of Green Energy:High-cost subsidized renewable resources destroy jobs and hurt consumers.

....when the entire economic ledger is tallied, the net impact of renewable energy subsidies will be reduced economic growth and fewer jobs overall. In effect, “green” energy mandates like those of California and New Jersey are a new version of “Gresham’s Law,” in which subsidized renewable resources will drive out competitive generators, lead to higher electric prices, and reduce economic growth.

Solyndra is the third U.S.-based solar manufacturer to file for bankruptcy this summer, following Evergreen Solar and Intel-backed Spectrawatt. Germany-based SolarWorld and Solon plan to shutter U.S. plants and QCells and Renewable Energy Corp. said they will cut production in Europe.

Solyndra had a manufacturing process which required specialized equipment, contributing to a technology with higher production costs, explained Mehta. As a result, Solyndra was delivering products to customers but not able to make a profit.

Politicians should temper their expectations on how much solar manufacturing can add in terms of jobs. Many U.S. companies are seeking a technology advantage by using thin-film solar cells, but typically these thin-film processes are highly automated, which means they create fewer manufacturing jobs relative to traditional panels

http://news.cnet.com/8301-11128_3-20102063-54/solyndra-bankruptcy-was-disaster-waiting-to-happen/#ixzz1XqT31rRh

Politicians should simply get out of the business of subsidizing any type of business because politicians are about the most ignorant people on the planet when it comes to business.

The Solyndra-Gate is just beginning.

The Washington Post reported today that there are emails showing the White House applied pressure to get Solyndra's loan fast tracked so Biden could tout it at a groundbreaking ceremony.

Let's fast track a $500 Million dollar loan on account of a photo opportunity.

That's Obama's idea of good business. How stupid, and Barack will pay with his job in 2012.
Tettleton's Chew (0 DX)

The congressional panel examining the loan disclosed emails that appeared to show senior staff at the Office of Management and Budget chafing about having to conduct "rushed approvals" of federal loan guarantees designed to help jumpstart the nation's renewable energy industry.
"We would prefer to have sufficient time to do our due diligence reviews and have the approval set the date for the announcement rather than the other way around," said one of the emails from an unnamed OMB aide to Biden's office.

This is what happens with the Democrats. First they can't make any jobs. Then they try to make the jobs all colourful so the braindead public won't notice. Won't fool me, Obama. Obama's economic record on colouring is so woefully outside the lines that it looks like a three-year-old's work.

This is from the liberal rag The Washington Post.
I guess even liberal rags can't avoid the facts.

A $38.6 billion loan guarantee program that the Obama administration promised would create or save 65,000 jobs has created just a few thousand jobs two years after it began, government records show.

The program — designed to jump-start the nation’s clean technology industry by giving energy companies access to low-cost, government-backed loans — has directly created 3,545 new, permanent jobs after giving out almost half the allocated amount, according to Energy Department tallies.

This is not a "scandal". Innovative companies go bankrupt. Newsflash: Loans for this company were first pushed by the Bush administration. The company was backed by the Republican Walton family. This is manufactured "scandal", like everything else the rightwing blowhards jump up and down about.

Green jobs fiasco? Obama should stop sending white police cops to enforce drug laws on innocent young African American males who sell cannabis to make ends meet. That's racist and a green jobs fiasco if I've ever seen one.

Hey TC, newsflash
democrat, republican are two sides of the same coin. whichever gets elected they will continue to wage war, and cater to the ultra wealthy and the mega corporations.

oh wait, you live in a fantasy world where corporations arnt raping the planet.
You said before that corporations exist to promote happiness and.. idk some other bullshit, well I got a real laugh about that, because corporations are created for PROFIT.
they are BY LAW required to put the profit motive above all else.

Read an interesting doctoral dissertation.
U.S. Middle Class Income Stagnation, 2000-2007: Reality or Illusion
University of Texas Arlington

The dissertation found that looking at four different definitions of the middle-class,
The Middle 20%, the middle 40%, the middle 60%, and the middle 80%,
That all for income groups grew fast than the "rich" defined in three way the top 20% the top 10% or the top 5%.

No matter which middle-class group you chose and compared to any of the three groups of the rich the middle-class income grew faster than the rich during the Bush presidency.

The author's use of census date makes the ability to refute the study impossible, unless of course you want to call census data inaccurate and then what is more accurate?

Will someone let Obama, Pelosi, and Reid know about these irrefutable facts so they will quit positioning themselves as liars when they say the middle-class is under attack.

If you look at the top 5% during the Bush years their income collapsed in relation to all other groups by falling almost .7%
Sicarius (673 D)

Tettleton's Chew (0 DX)
17 Sep 11 UTC
Nubz, you have a glaring lack of understanding.
Incomes of the top 5% dropping by 7% has nothing to do with taxation.
It has to do with a lost of gross income.
Basic finance should be on your short list.
The fact is that the big government advocates lie right through their teeth about the middle-class losing income and the upper class gaining income.
The census data covered in this dissertation clearly shows middle class gains in income throughout the Bush administration (adjusted for inflation even) while the top 20% saw decreases in income.

The funny thing is that the Bush tax cuts amounted to .5% for the top bracket.

Facts like this get in the way of the Big Government fantasy though so don't let facts bother you. Just dream that dream.
