Would you rather...
In here, you must answer the previous question and post a new "Would you Rather" in each post... I'll go first.

Would you rather have sex with someone with no arms or no legs?

Take This Test
http://www.gotoquiz.com/politics/political-spectrum-quiz.html

It's the best I've found online and ought to bring some perspective to where people actually stand ideologically. It's a bit skewed to American politics on domestic issues.

Here are my results.

"Invictus" is a right moderate social libertarian. He is also a foreign policy centrist and somewhat culturally conservative. Rusty's scores (from 0 to 10):
Economic issues:+5.87 right
Social issues:+3.15 libertarian
Foreign policy:+0.21 non-interventionist
Cultural identification:+3.34 conservative

Damn, I didn't see my name was there twice. I guess you know my nickname now. You can post this on Facebook so it still has my name as Rusty, even though I go by Russ in college now. People at home just couldn't handle the change.

Economic issues: +8.85 left
Social issues: +2.51 libertarian
Foreign policy: +7.76 non-interventionist
Cultural identification: +8.24 liberal

Pretty damn accurate for a communist and a Quaker.

I took this quiz, and I'm quite liberal, with a slight libertarian leaning.

As I read through the results, I came across a few sentences that epitomize my disgust for the current American political system, and the reason I think our country is in serious trouble.

"Where are you in the culture war? On the liberal side, or the conservative side? This scale may apply more to the US than other countries."

The implication here being that there IS a culture war, and I think many Americans see it the same way, as Liberals and Conservatives being nothing short of enemies. People tend to get tossed into one camp or another, and generalized ever after, and each "party" only focuses on the negatives of the "other side". The pessimism and cynicism is depressing, and I think that Americans, in general, need to change their views, not of political policy itself, but the way they view others, and the way they let the party system control their lives.

Sorry for the rant.

Wow, I remember taking a similar quiz a while back and my results have shifted rather radically.

I'm not a fan of the "some people should not be allowed to reproduce" question. Because this is something that people say etc, but when you think about it and when it comes to the core, you know just how ridiculous that is.

You realize that everyone has their own ideas and solutions, and to try to lump everyone into vague catagories of political belief, borders on the insane.

score: (A)
Invictus (240 D)
17 Sep 09 UTC
This is hardly vague. Vague is a test which goes from Jesse Jackson to Denny Hastert which we took in AP Gov senior year. This test is a useful way to graphically show where you stand on issues of substance.

Mine was:

You are a far-left moderate social libertarian.
Left: 8.65, Libertarian: 2.42

Foreign policy -7.35
Culture -6.06
Toby Bartels (361 D)
17 Sep 09 UTC
You are a centrist social libertarian.
Left: 0.33, Libertarian: 9.09
Foreign Policy: You scored: -9.37
Culture: You scored: -7.18

This quiz is similar to one I've followed for several years:
http://politicalcompass.org/
The go-to-quiz version gives more detailed results, which I like, although I think that I don't like its phrasing of questions as much as the politicalcompass version.

I would also like to echo PyroMancer, that I do not see myself as taking part in any Culture War. I accept cultural conservatives, and I welcome political alliance with those who accept me.

"It does not make sense to understand the motivations of terrorists because they are self-evidently evil." Ha ha! That is hilarious! (Yes, strongly disagree)
Toby Bartels (361 D)
17 Sep 09 UTC
I'd like to know how you score, Sicarius, but I promise not to take it too seriously. Goodness knows, that Left: 0.33 score won't give people a very good idea of my opinions of political economy, but neither would any other score. (The other three scores, however, probably mean about what they look like.)
Toby Bartels (361 D)

(For me, I mean.)
Centurian (3257 D)

There is some overlap, and I wonder how the test reflects that. I mean, you can accept gay marriage on libertarian grounds alone, but I suspect it impacts on the cultural score instead.

Sicarius (673 D)

I think it's silly to let a computer tell me what I think based on ambiguoulsy (sp) worded questions, when I am already quite aware of my politics.

TMG Masters round 2 game 4/crashed
the game was paused but says "now" instead of "paused" and cannot become unpaused.
http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=13757
Also, the pause was initiated after 1 turn after I requested it which resulted in losing the build phase. So when you fix it could you move it one turn back (build phase 1901). It's now stuck at Spring 1902.
thx in advance!
