lying? Lying only makes a difference if the matter about which you are attempting to decieve has any signifacance at all.

I am not attempting to be biased, I am merely attempting to speak with people who are of essentially the same culture, and we can therefore discuss a similar subject upon similar grounds, I dont honestly feel that I could become polytheistic, or that I could relate in a theological discussion with someone who is.

Ah, I agree. I believe but I'm not fully sure that He is real. I would say that nobody can really be fully sure, the dead know the answer but we can't hear them and none of us can prove definite with our senses what lies beyond the grave plus there is an abundance of a priori evidence for and against God and although most would think it's a clean cut issue it isn't.
This makes me sound like a wishy-washy but really I'm not. I've been through the motions years before and have thought about it. I say everyone either BELIEVES or DOSEN'T but nobody KNOWS for sure so I'm not a wishy-washy I'm just unsure like everyone else.

I believe in a higher mind inextricably connected with my own that may or may not, if you could ask it, claim to be the God of Abraham.

Wow this is getting pretty thick here. Religion or Non-Religion is just another part of life adds exicitment to starting all osrts of wars.

@amonkeyperson, I know very little of Islam, but with the current extremism going on in the middle east it is currently cast in a very bad light, from what little I understand of it however, it is at its base no worse than christianity

Power over the corporeal. It is analagous to whatever part of your brain controls the plot of your dreams as they unfold. Unknowable to you, but still part of you, while more powerful than you, controlling your life and the rest of the universe.

@Thucydides, only if you believe that dreams can affect life, but that is a moot point. But if this is the only way in which the higher mind can interact with the world, it is, in my opinion, more of a spirit than a god
