Quick suggestion for Kestas
Over the past couple of weeks you've been adding 24 hours to the game's turns a number of times for different reasons. I do like the fact that you've done this but I think it may be better to reset the time to another 24 hours rather than add 24 hours if thats possible. this would stop those games with a couple of people awaitig cd from having a 40+ hour turn.

I don't know whether this is actually feesible but I think its more efficient.

Thanks for the great update though, incredible work you've done.

Bug - Too Many Units
In this game: http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=3021 Italy has 2 supply centers, but 3 units (2 armies, 1 fleet) and we just finished unit placing, so there is some bug going on here. Thanks.

The GameMaster tab
Some people are asking for it back, or asking why it was removed:
- First off removing it means there is less text to be translated, and making translation easy is something that I want to do wherever possible
- The gamemaster output was directly from the old adjudicator, which was completely rewritten. The old gamemaster performed simply operations like "Make all the convoys being attacked unable to convoy", and so it could send the user messages about what it's doing. Now the gamemaster script performs operations like "Does the convoy have path status?->Is the convoy being dislodged?->Are there any attackers?->Do any have an attack strength greater ....", and this recursive algorithm can't really give clear messages about what it's doing.

The map should now have all moves drawn to it, you should be able to tell exactly what has happened during a turn by looking at the large map. (The small map doesn't contain all unsuccessful orders though)

retreat
In the game Seven Little Indians my fleet at spain ( south coast) was attack and i can just reteat at mid atlantic but there are already a fleet. Why i can go to gulf of lyon??

Missing unit placing orders
The bug was in the update code, which didn't create new unit placing orders.

All the games where were in a Spring, Diplomacy phase, but had players with more supply centers than units, have been moved back by a turn and had the unit placing orders created

If your game moved on to a new phase after Spring, Diplomacy, but you were still affected by the bug, let me know and Ill try and manually insert your new units

Phase didn't process.
In the game GFDT R2 G5, the adjustments did not happen, and it says that we are currently playing spring of 1911. This is a huge problem. The game is at http://www.phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=2886 . Now, idk i anything can be done, but it would be nice if the game was either pushed back a season or if the correct builds and removals could be entered manually.

phpDip 0.8
Finally got 0.8 out. The largest change is to the adjudicator, which has been rewritten and is compliant with the proper rules. Retreating from coasts, supporting convoys, self-dislodgement, etc, are all resolved now.
The orders code has also been changed, it'll fill in your choices when you only have one option, and it uses less server resources.
The map has also been re-done, and now all types of moves are displayed to the map.
There are winner-takes-all games now, but I get the feeling people are getting used to the normal system anyway :-) I haven't heard any winner-takes-all complaints for a while now, but it's there anyway.

There are two things that I wanted to do, but didn't have time for: the moderator CP, and game listings efficiency improvements, but I'll be able to add those in soon.


As the message above says this is new code, for the first time in years, and lots of it, and there will certainly be bugs. Please post any bugs you find into this thread, or a single thread for them, so that they don't fill the whole forum (I am expecting a lot)

Thanks for beta testing phpDip, especially to those who were around testing the previous releases and know that we're in for a bumpy ride while the code stabilizes again :-)

I got this error

Fatal error: Call to undefined method drawMap::addStandoff() in /home/.mio/phpdiplomacy/phpdiplomacy.net/map.php on line 108

It occurs in this game:

Oh yeah... on a different note, the number of diploints(???) changes depending on the screen, sometimes I have 100, other times I have 4. Games show I have 100, and my profile and the top right of the screen shows 4. This didn't used to be that way, but if this is a feature then I'm find with it.

I should have mentioned thats the way it should be, the old occupations table wasnt compatible with the new tables. The data has been saved and will eventually be put back together

Even when a game is in a phase where you have no move options (i.e. a unit placing move when you have no units to place) the game alert box still appears at the top of the screen with the little red x in it.

In game ID 3085, the map is labelled as Autumn although it is really spring as stated above the player info at the bottom of the page.

Thats also a new change, Im not sure how confusing it'll be or if it should be changed back. When in a diplomacy phase youre never looking at the current turn's map, only the previous turn, so in diplomacy phase the map's title is the previous turn.

By my count I should be placing two units, but "The game" is informing me that I have nothing to do this round. We are also in a 40 hour turn, which seems a bit long to me.

The situation has gotten worse, it just skipped ahead to the next turn without letting do any placement at all. I don't know if any of my team mates are experiencing problems yet.

About the current turn's map and the map title on the previous turn: I think it should be changed back, just thinking about it is confusing me. But, that's just me, and I definitely see the logic in changing it.

hmm, when convoyed, army can't be ordered through specific fleet, which should enable multiple possibilities (through different fleet) to the same location - I don't think it's OK

Hmm, this unit-placing problem is very odd. I definitely placed units without problem during testing. Is it possible that these faulty unit-placing phases are just the ones which were in unit-placing during the update, or are they happening to new unit-placing phases too?

Thucydides writing the code to do it is even more confusing, and I found that referring to a map by the turn the orders in the map was the easiest way to think about it, rather than referring to a map by the turn the map was first viewed

Rait, convoys shouldn't be able to loop back on themselves or anything like that. Being unable to specify a specific convoy is a part of the proper rules that phpDip didn't do correctly before (correct me if Im wrong)

I don' t know, Kestas. All I know is that I wasn't allowed to place units, and now the game has moved onto the next season without affording me an opportunity to do so. Can you roll back the game so I can try again or otherwise pause this game until the situation is resolved? Please.

That makes a lot of sense, Kestas, thanks. I'll just start getting used to the new system then, change is good. And about the convoys, I assume it just gets the army there any way it can and as long as its not cut it makes it through?

There was definitely a unit placing round that was missed. I'm not sure if anyone placed any units, but I should have placed two and was not presented with the opportunity to do so. I tried to place them yesterday, those move were finalized, but the units have not appeared and the game has moved on.

There's a problem with the time. I have 40 hours showing up in one game and 16 in another. I also don't really like how it shows supply centers instead of units, but I guess I can get used to that.

It seems I cannot post support orders, specifically the third (From) field. I fill it, it stays pink but the DB does not seem to accept it (Firefox keeps being hanoged on, waiting for an answer). The field never become white.

kestas, in game http://www.phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=2886, the build phase got messed up as well. an interesting result of this, is that the map shows 4 units for a player who now only has 3 scs. since the map is for autumn of the previous year, is it from after the unit adjustments or did the player just get a freebee?

is it intended for the little green light bulbs next to players' names that indicate if they're logged in to phpdip to be gone? if so, might i ask that they be re-added? i liked them, they were useful for more real-time kind of correspondence.

thewonderllama, are you referring to the little tick you get when you've made your moves, or the last login date located beneath that players name.

For me, nothing seems to have changed during the update, the only noticable changes i can see via the interface are the arrows, squares when in the sea and the crosses that represent stale-mates, everything else is normal?

I was filling in orders in Be_Diplomatic. All seemed to be going well but after adding an order, maybe a support move, this error popped up and now it's all I get when trying to view the game page.

Missed Fall Moves

Problem
There is a problem when I view the game because messages and the words in the game master section go below (and behind) the map so I cannot read what is written. I have an apple computer though so this may be the reason for the glitch if the game is not compatible. Is there any way to fix this?

Error report
I usually login and save the password so that I can spare to relogin everytime I check on my computer. But today, due to the new code, since I login in another computer at school, the computer at my home, with the saved password, said I gave an invalid session key and needs to relogin. This is normal but when I try to refresh, it still bounced back to the error page and there wasnt a login option for me...so, I had to delete my computer's web history to get back in again...
