It seems like many of the things Trump is accused of doing wrong, Hilary and Obama did way worst and well before.

Only they had the help of the FBI and main stream media in covering it up.

Benghazi, collusion with Russia, etc.

It took the president 12 days to publicly acknowledge the deaths of the four U.S. troops, which he did only after a journalist pressed him on the issue.

This is far worse than the chatanooga attack obama was lambasted for. 12 days? Golf outings? Tweets about NFL bullshit?

All are calling this a failure from the top down in both talking about what happened, supplies our troops had namely driving in unarmored vehicles, poor intelligence. Much of what caused this DIRECTLY relates to the travel ban on muslims from Chad. Its a self-created mini-tradgedy as a result of pathetic leadership.
brainbomb (290 D)

Try parsing through this:

"
American forces are also active in Chad, helping push back against Boko Haram, which is mostly active in Nigeria and its eastern border regions. Chad is one of the nerve centers of the international counterterror fight, with U.S., French, and British troops working alongside local forces at the Multinational Joint Task Force in the capital of Ndjamena. Chad’s central role in battling terrorism made the country’s inclusion on the latest U.S. travel ban all the more puzzling."

It is never good to lose our soldiers (that you pretty much don't support anyways, but that is not the point).

But it isn't near the massive tragedy that resulted in 30 soldiers of the unit that killed Obama bin Laden ambushed and murdered as the result of pathetic leadership.

Much less the pathetic leadership that led to a US Ambassador and three other deaths.

Face it, what ever the liberal media tries to exaggerate, Obama and the Clintons did it first and in a far worse way.

Of course it is ridiculous.

Just the main stream liberal media exaggerating news trying to instill fear and panic among the citizens of this country.

Just like they do with the white supremacists to brainwash the dumb into thinking it is some massive movement instead of just an extremely small group of lunatics.

Most of us never even knew who Richard Spencer was until the liberal media can him a platform to spread his message far further than it would have ever been spread if it had just been rightly ignored.

But yes, this is Trump's Benghazi ... in the sense that it is a stupid controversy kept alive by the brainless horse race media that can't be bothered to focus on actual in those issues. Another 1,000 Americans died from gun violence and another couple of thousand from inadequate health care. The destruction of the biosphere on which all our lives depend continues apace. Racism is rampant. More farmers have almost certainly died than military personnel in the interim and here the press is focused on the stupid lies of the Trump administration. No wonder Americans have shorter attention spans than goldfish (this is actually true).

1. are they saying that Benghazi WAS a big deal now... because if so, then they'r tactic admitting that they've been lying for years when they said it wasn't

2. the congresswoman lied, there are tapes out now, she's a hack.

3. Trump is stupid to say he calls the families of dead soldiers better than anyone else

4. Benghazi is like Niger? I mean... they can both be scandals but they're entirely different situations

Benghazi had 3 major factors:

1. The embassy had hundreds of requests for extra security to the state department all turned down, so they had to hire local security. there are reports now that Ansar al-Sharia did in fact pose as guards during the attack. The lack of support by the state department for months leading up to the attack left this embassy stranded

2. The actual attack lasted hours, and there was no attempt to send aid, although there was that "13 hours" movie made about it that dramatized a contracted force outside of the sec-state authority. Compare that to Niger, where we had planes fly over (but do to our treaty with Niger, we can help them fight Boko Haram and other terrorist elements, but not drop ordinances), so we could only fly down and try to retrieve them.

3. Afterwards, for weeks there were reports coming out of the White House saying the attack did not seem organized, and was actually caused by rioting in response to a video with muhammads depiction. Now we know that was a lie, and evidence of Ansah-al-Sharia involvement was there within 48 hours, but suppressed, immediately before the election. PS, yes I know in the initial statement from the White House, out of 5 or 6 paragraphs worth of talking points Obama said terrorism would not divide us in ONE line, but even more left-based fact checkers admit that the reports FOLLOWING the attack were unsubstantiated and suspicious; factchecker, politifact.

Niger was an ambush, immediate fly overs by planes were sent but they couldn't bomb, since we apparently have a treaty saying we can't drop ordinances with Niger (although some say it was because we couldn't identify friendlies from bogies, but both explanations are understandable), but the problem that congresswoman had was that the Sargent wasn't found until a day later, and there were (supposedly, CNN reported it but no sources have confirmed) signs that he was alive, and perhaps captured

That said, the mission to find him took place right away, in fact CNN reports they never even left the battle field, before Johnson was found.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/20/politics/us-niger-ambush-sgt-la-david-johnson/index.html

The questions are:

1. Why didn't we know about the ambush (fault of intelligence agencies, or nobody and it was just well planned)

2. What happened to the Sargent exactly? She people say that the tracking signal was still working for him, although other reports say it was one of the vehicles (see SAME CNN article). Why did he get separated?

Those are big questions, and have NOTHING to do with Trump. There is one point of concern with the White House though:

Why did the administration take so long to come forth about this incident?

Well, the White House took a while, but the military was pretty quick announcing it, I knew about it almost immediately through my older brother sharing a link on Facebook, and since he's in the Corps he sees the military news fairly quickly.

So why not the White House?

in that same period of time we've been dealing with 1. comey wrote a memo saying he wouldn't indict Hillary BEFORE the investigation was done, 2. Raqqa has been liberated from ISIS by US backed forces, 3. There is evidence from a confidential FBI informant that the state department under Obama KNEW about the risk of giving up Uranium One to the Russians, and has evidence of bribery.

3 MASSIVE events... that the media hasn't covered that much. more airtime has been spent with Congresswoman Wilson lying

Yes, it was a lie

http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/20/politics/us-niger-ambush-sgt-la-david-johnson/index.html

Does that justify the white house's silence?

American soldiers die much more frequently than the news reports, but because it helps them attack Trump (and because trump made that comment about calling all the families better than other presidents, which is idiocy on his part).

The simple fact is this is not a matter of silence from the White House, it's a matter of too much noise. Trump isn't kept in the loop hourly on every single development with troops overseas

https://www.rt.com/usa/363315-americans-killed-attack-afghanistan/

did you hear about this? It happened more recently.

Two things are true at once:

1. Trump is an idiot for saying he calls the families of fallen soldiers better than any other President

2. The White House not immediately releasing a statement on an attack on US troops, is not the same as what happened in Benghazi.

The timeline begins on September 24, when the Trump administration suddenly and inexplicably added Chad to the list of countries whose citizens would be included in the latest iteration of the president's travel ban. Chad and its leaders were utterly blindsided as there was no sense whatsoever that this nation has harbored or even encouraged terrorists -- certainly no more culpable than such nations as Iraq, Pakistan, Sudan, or for that matter Chad's neighbors Mali, Niger and Nigeria, none of which were included on this list.

Au contraire, Chad's troops have for some time served as an effective ally in the region -- the best fighting force deployed in nearby Niger and Mali, with the best intel and best-trained warriors. They were the best because they were trained by the French and its redoubtable Foreign Legion. I know, because I was there in Chad in 1983 when the French had to send in their forces to backstop them when they thought Libya's Moammar Gadhafi might invade from the north.

Over the next 30 years, the French turned them into a first-rate fighting force, utterly allied to the Western anti-terrorist effort in the Sahel -- itself a desperately critical part of the success of our war against ISIS and against the spread of Islamic terrorism that is threatening to overrun Africa. If the Pentagon and National Security Council have been searching for the next place where, hydra-like, a post-Raqqa ISIS might rise, they need look no further than here.

Chad, Mali and Niger offer a central conduit from north African nations like Libya -- quite rightly a fellow member of the Trump travel ban, and potentially the richest recruiting lode for Islamic jihad -- to the vastly populous regions of Nigeria and its neighbors. Already, Nigerian-based Boko Haram, a proto-Islamic group comprised more of heavily-armed thugs than confirmed jihadis, has made enormous inroads in this region. Now, ISIS is knocking on the door. Some determinedly anti-jihadist nations like Chad, have stepped up to block these efforts.

And then Trump went and insulted them. In fact, the September 24 action was only the latest backhanded and ill-informed insult. It seems that US Homeland Security gave all countries 50 days to meet a "baseline" of security conditions, including producing a counterfeit-proof version of their passport to prove that they were reliable enough to allow their citizens into America. But Chad, desperately poor, had quite simply run out of passport paper.

They reportedly offered to provide a pre-existing sample of this type of passport. No dice. The next thing they knew they were on the banned list, alongside their arch enemy Libya and other clearly terrorist-driven nations.

Barely a week after the announcement of the new travel ban, the Chadian government suddenly began pulling hundreds of their fighters from Niger. There was no immediate explanation, though the nation's communications minister Madeleine Alingué condemned the Trump administration's unheralded move, observing that it "seriously undermines" the "good relations between the two countries, notably in the fight against terrorism." Hard to be more direct than that.

Troops from Niger and Mali were now all that now stood between the forces of ISIS and Boko Haram and our own military.

"We have about 1,000 [American] forces distributed over the Chad Basin, most of them in Niger, but not all of them," Lt. Gen. Kenneth McKenzie, a senior official of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said at a news conference held after the soldiers were ambushed. Indeed, the United States not only has hundreds of troops but also a major drone operation in Niger, something McKenzie failed to mention.

But now, Chad's troops, one of the major components of the multinational force in Niger, are largely gone. They had been assembled to patrol, defend and especially to understand this vast stretch of largely barren desert that includes Mali and Niger -- a combined territory nearly four times the size of Texas. Few could understand it better or be better equipped to fight there than the army of Chad. I've seen that first-hand. Donald Trump has not.

Inexplicably, though, we still sent our small, under-armed band of troops into harm's way. Fifty jihadis, heavily armed with rocket-propelled grenades and machine guns, utterly outgunned and outmanned the slim American force they ambushed.

And then our boys died there. The backstory is frightful -- filled with mindless decisions executed with minimal knowledge and catastrophic results. It's urgent that we uncover quickly just what led to this terrible disaster. Mr. President, you must see it as your highest priority to find out what or who is really behind the deaths of these four heroic young men.

@brainbomb

http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/21/opinions/niger-chad-travel-ban-trump-andelman-opinion/index.html

where to begin?

1. Obama got us into Niger. Not Trump. Units there are based off of orders years ago and there actually has been some talk about leaving these areas and focusing more on the Middle East by the Trump administration

2. It wasn't sending them into harms way intentionally, it was an ambush. It's not some conventional war

3. Yes Chad moved troops out of Niger in response to Trump, but their President Idrss Déby is also a semi-populist, VERY national security concerned individual, and his main focus has always been to secure his country's borders first, fight terrorism second.

4. There is NO evidence. listen: ZERO evidence that anti-terrorism forces from Chad, would have prevented this attack. This seems to be fairly well coordinated, Chad forces were never going to be with the unit that got ambushed, and no intelligence from anyone had revealed this attack.

what a load of garbage
