Myself I stopped watching after they destroyed Stannis. It was clear then the producers didn't give a whit about the source material.

There will be spoilers so mute me if you havent read the reddit leaks. I know everything that happens this season.

A few problems apart from the obvious campy-feel good story theyre giving us.

-its rushed, the dialogue, the scenes are rushed. Example characters used to take a few episodes to get anywhere. Now people travel 2000 miles in the same episode.

- they are piling groups of characters together who have really nothing intetesting to say to each other.

-theyve lost the shock value - ruthlessness that made it so visceral.

-its written from the point of view of reaching a finish line - not telling a human story.

-most of the dialogue is central to the plot every episode. Theres nothing organic about it.

- the actions characters are taking are written to service what the show writers want - not what the characters would do.
Example : why the hell would tormund imprison the brotherhood? Hes not even in the noghts watch?

Example : why would olenna confess? It serves her to NOT give the lannisters a reason to make peace with the starks.

Example : how did jorah get to old town? Who in gods name would have let him on a ship.

Example how in fuck did euron build and man 1000 ships in less than a year after the iron islands were roached

Example why did the dornish send all faction leaders to war with no one to rule?

Example why would gendry ever go back to kings landing. Thats idiotic. He just sat there waitin to be found? It made no sense.

Example how do the maesters know intimate details of war causualties within 26 minutes of it happening but they dont comprehend that an existential enemy is marxhing on the wall thats been killimg ppl for 6 seasons

I wish I could go into a lot more detail, but I really feel it reached a tipping point in the sixth episode in particular, so I'll wait to say much more.

Gendry haa been manipulated, hunted and poor all his life. He got screwed by the brotherhood, screwed by stannis and saved by davos.

The best they can come up with for gendry after being missing like 3 seasons is he decides to join a random mission to go 2000 miles north. And in the same episode hes reintroduced - hes weilding a hammer and now north of the wall chasing undeads.

Gimme a break

Lets even say that made sense. Why in the hell would Davos decide he should go poke around flea bottom to recruit a bastard of robert baratheon. I wouldve loved if they combined gendry arc with Aegon from the books or jon connington. Or Quentyn. Any of those storylines. Or Edric storms plot.

Gendry never left the brotherhood in the books. So none of this was necessary and thank god its probably not what actually goes down in A dream of spring

Another gripe I have with Game of Thrones is actually a criticism of George RR Martin's hatred of groups and organizations.

-the sparrows are douchebags that at completely dictatorial and antothetical to a free society

-the maesters are douchbags in denial of everything despite being the people most in need of believing things.

-the dothraki are complete savages who have no respect for women.

-the nights watch are racist dipshits who have no redeeming qualities or honor outside of a select few

-the iron bank is essentially just crooked as fuck and spends its money to finance slavery and war

-the brotherhood without banners just steals peoples shit

-the wildlings just constatly rape-murder-kill and have tons of deplorables in their-ranks

-the kingsguard is full of perverts, incestous creeps, murderers, reanimated undeads, and kingslayers

-the sand snakes are just caricature bastards driven by revenge and have no actual skills at anything useful.

-the septons are just sex crazed - indulgent losers

-the sons of the harpy are just evil slavers.
-the second sons are just murderers
-the warlocks of qarth are driven by greed and power

Uhhh the unsullied seem to be the least evil social group in westeros. They dont have an agenda. Theyre obedient and have no negative traits.

I'm not sure if this is the worst season. There are no totally idiotic arcs. It's become pretty contrived and uninspired but there's nothing as bad as the Dorne arc.

I mean the Arc for theon is pretty idiotic. Jumping off the boat to let yara (asha) get captured is theons high point.

Melissandre seems pretty weak arc. I had thought she would rejoin brotherhood and fulfil a semi-lady stoneheart type role. But naw the brotherhood went off to ze wall.

Brans Arc is pretty dull this season by comparison to S6 where he played a key role.

And yea... im just gonna say it. Tyrions story has been boring for me since S5. The coolest thing tyrion has been part of was releasing the dragons, and maybe his brush with death in valyria.

Otherwise ive been sadly uninterested in scenes he has been in. Theyve felt forced and I just didnt think tyrion talking with missandei and varys was really all that great. His conversations with dany were drab. I liked his interactions with jorah alot. And to a lesser extent his talks with grey worm.


Ay jon was better. Hes not just a boring soldier. Like this season hes way better at diplomatic talks. Hes alot more involved than he was S6 in trying to rally ppl. Its like he and sansa swapped roles. Shes alot less skilled this season as a leader

honestly I feel like they're trying to set stuff up for the final season, and they just don't know how to do that cleanly. Hopefully this means we're in for one hell of a finale

Have not read the books, only watch the show (ep 6 comes on in an hour for me). The pace has definitely gone from meandering to rushed since they overtook the books. A few things that bother me:

We learn way back in season one that by the laws of Westerosi genetics, we know a child's true parentage by their hair color. Baratheons have black hair, Lannisters have blonde hair, etc. If John Snow is the son of a Targaryen, why does he not have silver hair?

Where did Arya get the pretty barmaid's face when she killed old Frey? It would be out of character for her to murder some random girl to take it, she only kills those who harmed her or her family. Did she steal it from the House of Black and White? Seems like they'd want to hunt her down and stop her misusing that magic. For that matter, why did Mr No One let her go in the first place? How did she even survive drinking from the killer fountain, it's obvious she was never no one. I could go on, that entire plot line made no damn sense.

I'm trying to figure out why Arya is so immediately suspicious of Littlefinger now. What does she have against him? He did betray her father back in season one, but as far as I recall she never knew this, nor did she ever have any dealings with him at all.

Is Brienne ever going to give Arya the wolf bread Hot Pie made for her? One can only assume that, as she often claims to be neither a lady nor a knight, she put all thoughts of honor aside and ate it herself. And did not share with Podric.

Still, now that Orphan Black is over, GoT is the only current show I watch and still find it entertaining. Yes, the writing has gotten lazier but long-running series nearly always end in disappointment because it's impossible to live up to what the viewer/reader has built up in their head. Or the author him or herself loses interest (Jean Auel's Clan of the Cave Bear series), or rushes the ending (Stephen King's Dark Tower), or loses track of all their plotlines and can't figure out how to properly tie it all together (Martin himself in the Ice and Fire series, clearly). All we can hope for now is some cool battle scenes and that Missandei with the perfect body gets naked again.
