I've come up with a great idea to revitalize the site and expand the fanbase.
It's called Webdip The Musical. It would be much more interesting than adding new maps or new features and might also allow people to rant about their political opinions in a way that's easier to ignore. I have contacted the mods and several have agreed to donate glitter.

Another potential idea is mafia the musical.

How do I fix the time desync for deadlines again?
I noticed a live game countdown (game failed to fire unfortunately) where I was a whole 30 seconds ahead of the game's phase deadlines. I remember there being a way to fix the desync but don't remember what it is. Anybody got me?

"Fog of War" rules?
Any reason "Fog of War" rules don't exist as a New Game option? You know, where you can see only the territories that border your units. So on the first round, England sees only as far as North Sea, Norwegian, English Channel, Irish Sea but does not see anything in France...

Trump breaks campaign promise to investigate Clinton
"Locking her up" was pretty central to Trump's campaign; two weeks after winning the election he's decided not to follow through. Are Trump supporters concerned about this? If not, why? And if he has already broken this promise (and others) then what faith do you have that he'll actually follow through on other promises?

Mike Pence goes to the theatre
Well Donald Trump and his team spent the election campaign proclaiming "safe spaces" was a liberal conspiracy aimed at shutting down debate...

Now Mike Pence has been gently challenged at a theatre, and suddenly Donald, who opposed safe spaces a moment ago, thinks the theatre, specifically, should be a "safe place" that prominent individuals can attend without being bothered or criticised.

Double standard much??

Next Trump will be condemning Hollywood for making films and TV shows mocking politicians since he already went after Saturday Night Live.

Bans "The Interview" and "To Be or Not To Be" for going after leaders that Trump admires.

Ridiculous.

He went to the theatre to watch a show, not be in the political spotlight.

The fact that you could think this is a 'double standard' is a good example of the extremely low intelligence levels of the vast majority of so-called liberals.
krellin (80 DX)

JAmie, lest you are truly deranged, let me explain it to you this way.

A paying customer was single out by the staff of a business to be insulted in front of all the other customers, because of the demented staff's beliefs about what they think this customer believes.

Pence wasn't there as part of a political event - he was there to enjot a play you ridiculous fucking moron.

This is the equivalent of you going to you favoriate local pub to enjoy a meal and having the entire waitstaff gather around your table and insult you. NOT because you said or did anything at the restaurant -- in fact, you were quietly enjoying your meal...and suddenly you are being personally insulted by the staff. THAT is what heppened.

Now I know all the ridiulcous liberals are going to deny the reality of this analogy, becuase you WANT to believe it's wrong.

Sadly, we are now living in a hate-filled world of liberals where, if you don't hold their exact beliefs, they think your should be sileneced and literally removed from society.

This isn't about what Trump said -- it's about what a bunch of intolerant assholes did.

What a bunch of intolerant, hateful fucking morons the Left in this world have become.
Congrats on taking the extremely obvious trollbait.

It blows my mind how many liberals can convince themselves that a largely self-made billionaire and current Presidential-elect is stupid. I'm a little worried for the future of the US that a blowout of the proportion that happened two weeks ago was apparently not able to put a dent into the delusion that has gripped half of my country.

Mike Pence is the Vice President-elect to a President who advocated for grabbing women "by the pussy", and who has previously boasted about walking into women's dressing rooms while women are changing and "getting away with it" because of how rich and influential he is. When the issue of "safe spaces" arose during the campaign it was ridiculed - by both candidates.

But now suddenly Mike Pence is entitled to the theatre as a "safe place" where he cannot be called out or subject to ridicule because he is a poor defenceless rich white man.

Fuck him. Fuck all of you who don't see this as a double standard. I hope a rich white man grabs you by the pussy, and I hope you like it.

Cool it guys. It isn't acceptable to throw insults around here, regardless of what perceived insults went down in a theatre. (None, as far as I can tell from the transcript.)

I'm seriously concerned about the level of discourse in your country when a simple message of tolerance and understanding prompts such an overreaction from both sides. The least we can do is keep it civil in our little corner of the internet.

"He went to the theatre to watch a show, not be in the political spotlight."

Pence ran for VP to be in the political spotlight. He got the job. Congratulations.

"A paying customer was single out by the staff of a business to be insulted in front of all the other customers"

"Insulting" my foot. The actors told the audience to *stop* booing so they could read a perfectly respectful letter to Pence.

Then Trump lied about what happened, as per usual. Because he'd rather have people like you all in a tizzy about what hateful people the left are than acknowledge the people he's going to govern starting in January.

"Pence ran for VP to be in the political spotlight. He got the job. Congratulations."

That's right kid, and when you're not at your job, e.g. at a show you have paid money for a nice break of entertainment, you should be free from harassment by loony toons.

It's perfectly clear the left are just bursting with hatred. Perfectly clear.

"Tell that to every remotely famous person ever."

So you are advocating that it should be considered socially acceptable to openly harass any "remotely famous person" whenever they are in public?

Funny....because Hollywood and every other "remotely famous person" tend to very, very much disagree with you. IN fact, I'll bet the douchebag fucknutts in that shitty play would probably rather not be harassed in public either.

But hell....double-standards are what make fucking Liberals *sooooo* awesome!

@krellin - your analogy is incorrect.

"This is the equivalent of you going to you favoriate local pub to enjoy a meal and having the entire waitstaff gather around your table and insult you. NOT because you said or did anything at the restaurant -- in fact, you were quietly enjoying your meal...and suddenly you are being personally insulted by the staff. THAT is what heppened."

You are excluding the part where the restaurant patron has for the last half a year actively antagonised over half of the neighbourhood's population, where they actively supported an individual who was committing hate-speech and various other threats.

What you do in your public life (and a presidential campaign does count) should very much impact the way that strangers interact with you.

This is very much like you and the forum's at webdiplomacy. You can say whatever you want, but other people are going to respond to that. It is evidenced on the forum whenever you write anything, a majority of responders hurl insults at you and call you stupid. This is how you present yourself.

Krellin, if I am the VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED FUCKING STATES, I would expect to get pestered and harassed and everything in between for the duration of my terms and well beyond. When you have that much power and influence over the entire world, people are going to voice their opinions. Don't like it? DON'T RUN FOR THE SINGLE MOST POWERFUL PUBLIC OFFICE IN THE WORLD.

President Eden (2750 D)

It did settle it, Trump trolled everybody by satirizing safe space complaints in his tweet afterward because trolling is part of what he does. Of the people I know offline who are talking about this play, the only people who still care are liberals who keep trying to convince themselves they're smarter and better than Trump, Pence and their campaign team and supporters. Trump people don't give a shit.
Durga (3609 D)

Holy shit, is it so hard to conceive that the fucking President should not be trolling anyone?
Uh, yeah. I don't see anything wrong with it. Satire has been an important aspect of political communication for some time.

Frankly, it seems like the anger about this comes more from the fact that, for the first time in a while, the left doesn't have a monopoly on the art.

Ok Eden, even assuming that this is satire and YOU pick up on it - do you really think the average American would also pick up on it? Do you think someone like ND would pick up on it?

Mike Pence's actual reaction was mature, he talked about how it was their right to free speech to say that, TRUMP went whiny

but still, those actors are whiny entitled pricks who think they're so important: it's like if you got to a restaurant and a WAITER started criticizing you. "bitch just do your job"

but Hamilton is as bad of a broadway play since Rent so who the fuck cares about them anyways?
JamesYanik (548 D)
22 Nov 16 UTC
imagine if this happened to Obama: THE MEDIA WOULD BUUUURRRRNNN HAMILTON
"Ok Eden, even assuming that this is satire and YOU pick up on it - do you really think the average American would also pick up on it? Do you think someone like ND would pick up on it?"

I don't get where this question is going. I don't think a lot of people picked up on it, just like how a lot of people never figured out Stephen Colbert was satirizing conservatives or got upset about something Jon Stewart said. Satire is often confused for sincerity -- otherwise it wouldn't be satire.
Condescension (10 D)

Funny that conservatives think companies should be able to refuse service based on race and sexuality but are against artists using their art as a platform for free speech.

Broadway performers aren't waiters and art isn't a plate of waffles. They are not cogs in a corporate machine whose only prerogative is providing a service to a customer.
