CIV 5 1v1v1 Ladder Tournament
Webdip players interested?
Lets get a list of people who would be interested in playing civ 5 (3 person free for alls) We can setup brackets and ideally if we can get 12 people from webdip actually have a mini tournament.

How long does a game normally take? Also, have you ever tried playing through a VPN? I have a pirated copy that won't work via Steam

if someone wants to help me organize this idea we can decide on things.

A. how a winner is determined.
B. how the brackets are seeded.
C. how start times for games will be decided.
D. how to proceed with saving and resuming.
E. any other connection issues or broken games and what to do if a game breaks and cannot be resumed.
brainbomb (290 D)

We would need to play via steam.

Id like this to kick off after other events conclude so much like the nation simulator we have a nice healthy little distraction. And can get a good player pool.

Sounds fun, I'm potentially interested, depending on how soon it can be started (this week?), etc.

If there is enough interest we could.

So far I have soft commitments from a good amount of people. I am aiming for 12 as that gives 3 quality games.

So just to clarify minimum requirements to play is to have Steam-Gods and Kings-Brave New World.

Games will begin as soon as we have 12 participants and each bracket will start when interested parties agree on a reasonable start time. Each bracket should have a host as well who is willing to be the host. Games should be saved regularly and if any issue arises where the game cannot be completed, the game is automatically a draw, or an agreed upon restart.

Games are played to the end, unless parties agree to concede defeat.

**4 quality games.

@Vecna: It would be great if they played with the NQ mod ; but the main webdip Civ 5 crowd don't have that. Some don't even have the Ancient Wonders pack.

@brainbomb:

I think all games should be played on the same setting. I'd suggest:

Map Type: Pangaea
Resources: Strategic Balance
Sea Level

The only issue is Map Size: the only option would be Tiny, but this map is designed for 4 players. With 3 players on a 4-player map, 1 player is going to have much more land while 2 players will be nearer to each other. This 1 player will gain a huge advantage.

4-player games would be more balanced.

Good ideas that was my next consideration was what maps and settings. Well played sir. Also Barbarians, and difficulty settings.

I think for Pangaea its best to go Prince and go with Raging? HR usually says thats the most balanced? is there any objection to that?

4 player games would be fine and we could up the tourney to 16 players if we have that many.

We would need to have a consolation bracket as well so that players who lost are still in.
HR has a hard-on for raging barbs and you should know that, bb.

If agree with Pangea, 4 players and the other settings. So long as it's not this week, I would be interested
*I agree

Would the games have a time limit?
wjessop (100 DX)
29 Mar 16 UTC
I would be against Raging Barbarians.

Sea Level would be fairest at medium.

Difficulty : as long as everyone's on the same it's balanced anyway: but Prince is pathetic, I'd vote for Immortal. Partly because the equalizer bonuses of Prince stifle the competitive edge you're supposed to be building, and partly because if a player dropped out or conceded early and left the game (unless there's a rule against that) then some players have an easy AI neighbour on Prince difficult that they can pick off, so it would be unfair. Immortal AI should be the level to play against in that situation.

games would play until conclusions or a concede defeat. I think playing standard pace would be fairest to all involved.

29 Mar 16 UTC
Standard pace means they'll never get finished.
brainbomb (290 D)
29 Mar 16 UTC
Sure, we can iron out rules and policies together and decide what would be the best setups. Immortal would be hard on some of the less experienced players who maybe would want to play however.
brainbomb (290 D)
29 Mar 16 UTC
Current Setup suggestion:

Map Type: Pangaea
Resources: Strategic Balance
Sea Level: Medium
Difficulty: ???
Map Size: Tiny

4-player games.

Now we just need to agree on a universal difficulty setting.

Bernie Sanders kicked out of hippie commune for laziness
http://freebeacon.com/politics/bernie-sanders-asked-leave-hippie-commune/

Raises the question in my mind of what will be done (if anything) with people who refuse to work in the socialist society Bernie and his supporters wish to impose. Forced labor camps? Expulsion from the country? Revocation of their EBT card and Section 8 subsidies? Or nothing?

The Trump Effect
Recently I've been hearing several left leaning souls start talking about the likelihood of them voting Trump now that the Bern has been all but extinguished. What I am curious about is why. What is it about Trump that makes him the lesser of two evils?

Just a basic question!
What does voting to 'Cancel' mean? what do you cancel when you vote for it?
And, how does Pause work? when you pause, how do you resume the game? is it paused for a specific amount of time or do you vote to un-pause later?

First Time Prom.
Help me WebDip, you're my only hope.

Seriously, though, I am a male junior, and found out today that the person on my mind has me on hers. Prom is in 2 weeks. I have not asked her, and fear that the window has shut on this opportunity. Even if I did go (all my buddies want me to go) I would have no idea what to do, what to say, or where to go.

Modern Diplomacy Game with 5 teams
Hello guys, I´m intending to do a Modern Diplomacy Game with 5 teams. 10 players, but without any communications inside de game. The only way to communication is talking to this real person by email, whatsapp, etc.
But to have equation, balance, one should have just another guy in his team. Not a 3 person team. This will work? ANyone want to participate?
