Don't know if this has made news stateside yet. Reports suggest multiple ongoing attacks.
Hannibal76 (100 D(B))

And yesterday 2 suicide bombers went off in Beirut. Around 50 dead and 250 wounded.
wjessop (100 DX)
13 Nov 15 UTC
Equally as awful -- though terrorist bombing in the Stade de France during an international football match is unheard of and massive news.
wjessop (100 DX)
13 Nov 15 UTC
And it's weird that this is happening the day after "Jihadi John" was killed.
Hannibal76 (100 D(B))

ISIS is getting nervous my friend. The Iraqi army should start a battle for Ramadi, the Kurds for Sinjar, and the Syrian army has been gaining ground in Aleppo. The attacks in Lebanon, France, AND the Russian plane are all because of this.
wjessop (100 DX)
13 Nov 15 UTC
I'm not convinced the Russian plane was ISIS.

I think there's every possibility that it was a government agency action -- building public support for ground troops.

Anyway, just thought is share for anyone who hadn't heard yet and maybe interested.

ISIS is getting nervous? For the past god knows how many months a massive stream of people with no known histories have been making their way from ISIS strongholds into Europe. It's Europe who should be nervous. I doubt there's a major European city that doesn't host an ISIS or similar terror cell. The only mystery is why they've not launched an attack until now.
Hannibal76 (100 D(B))
13 Nov 15 UTC
Are you saying the Russians blew up their own plane?
shield (3929 D)
13 Nov 15 UTC
Definitely a bit shocking to see something like this right by an international football match. Even if it's not as big as something in Beruit/elsewhere it's unexpected.
Hannibal76 (100 D(B))
13 Nov 15 UTC
@Octavious yeah man they are getting nervous. I'm not saying the end of ISIS is near or anything, but they have lost and are continuing to lose ground in Syria. AND in Iraq two large battles will begin almost simultaneously. Yes you're right Europe should be nervous, but ISIS is no longer expanding. Now they have begun to retreat on all fronts, slowly but surely.

Losing the ground war will make them seek unconventional alternatives.

"I think there's every possibility that it was a government agency action -- building public support for ground troops."

Which government? Whose troops? Do you think Vladimir Putin worries about stuff like that? David Cameron can't win a Commons vote on air strikes, do you think stopping holidays in Sharm El Shaik will swing it for him?

The French National Diplomacy Convention has been attracting fellow dip players to Paris this weekend. Round 1 is cancelled, let's hope that's their biggest worry.

Crazy that they've killed all the hostages at the Bataclan concert hall

Unfortunately there are now reports that the refugee camp at Calais has been attacked and set on fire in revenge.

That's their whole point, Flum.

Me too.
History repeats itself. This is not the first time radical Islam was threatened Europe and Western civilization.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
14 Nov 15 UTC
Terrorism threatens everyone, not just us. It threatens the Middle East and non-Western civilization far more, actually. The governments that endorse it are as much a problem as the terror organizations themselves.
OK, but the terrorists are still after us.
*sorry, I suppose I shouldn't refer to the West as "us" as if there are only Americans and Europeans on this site.
wjessop (100 DX)
14 Nov 15 UTC
I don't even like or agree with the terms "West" and "East". Old colonial terms that aren't relevant any more.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
14 Nov 15 UTC
The terrorists are after everyone who isn't them. It's not fair to exclude the refugees that they force out of their homes and those in their native lands who are being terrorized too.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
14 Nov 15 UTC
I am all for PC, wjessop, but please find me a set of terms that actually work. East v. West, first-world v. third-world, global north v. global south all have their issues.
wjessop (100 DX)
14 Nov 15 UTC
If you mean Europe and North America that's much more precise and controversy-free than "the West".

It's not a difficult one, bo_sox48.

Referencing geographical regions by their geographical names rather than figurative descriptions that refer to historical hierarchies is not hard.

Is it just me or...
can you also not see the 'The Last Person to Post Wins' thread?
I am sure I haven't muted it and I was the last person to post on it AFAIK. But, I can't find it anywhere.

Did it have to be trimmed down from the database considering the ongoing DB issues? :p

Electronic petition
How hard would it be to do an electronic petition on my website? So hard that I'd better use another platform? How to do this, what to use?
I think an online form with either a database or dedicated webmail address behind it will do. Never done these things though..
Could I set it up in a day or two if I start cracking?
