So, while walking my dogs I have been thinking about a new game we might get started. I can't think of a better name, so I am going with The Mountain.
The structure I have in mind: We start an anonymous game (The Mountain 1) with seven players. Everyone who makes a draw or the winner goes on to the second game (The Mountain 2). The goal would be to stay on the Mountain for as many games as possible. Eliminated players are replaced from a waiting list ranked by GR. If gunboat people are interested, we could have two games going at the same time, one for gunboat and one for press.
My uncertainties: Will this style of game encourage big boring draws? I would think it would encourage people to play for solos, since that is the only way to guarantee you have been on the mountain the longest, but maybe not.
How would you determine who is next? My inclination would be GR with a demerit for previous losses in the series, but I am not sure how to weight that. You wouldn't want somebody eliminated and then be immediately allowed to re-enter, but you also wouldn't want a loss to mean you could never participate again.
Finally: would people be interested in playing this. Ideally, it would never end. Is there enough interest for such a series, in addition to the Leagues, the apparently upcoming Masters, and so on? It would be one game with seven people, so it wouldn't be quite that big a thing, but it might be tough for the people at the top.
