What is happening with this site???
Some 2 years ago when I joined Webdiplomacy you could play 3 games in a row during one night. Now, you cant get players for even one game. Everyone is just typing on forum. Maybe if we type about it, we can overcome this problem somehow?! Play people, play.

Can you get into legal trouble for simply sitting next to a guy using illegal drugs?
Just checking.

Please sign this petition
The UK's Cuntservative-led government is murdering the poor and the vulnerable. It must stop.

Very poor use of the word murder. I shall treat this petition with the contempt it deserves.
steephie22 (182 D(S))
09 Sep 14 UTC
I'm wondering: was the guy making this petition unaware of the trouble his brother was in?

The government fucking with people's life so extremely is nothing new for me, quite frankly.
The part that shocks me is that someone who could live off £71,70 a week somehow didn't get this from his brother, other family, friends or other people..

Why not?

Would you be happy if I replaced "murder" with "promoting policies which they know are killing people and driving others into destitution?"

I note your outright contempt for a petition started by a woman whose brother, a former soldier, died of diabetic ketoacidosis because his benefits had been stopped and he couldn't pay for electricity to run the fridge he needed to keep his supply of insulin chilled.

You heartless cunt.

@Octavious: you shouldn't treat the petition different because of what Jamie said..
steephie22 (182 D(S))

Judging from what Jamie just said, I didn't mean 'his brother' but 'his sister' of course.

steephie22, hopefully this will answer your query:

You have just accused friends of mine of being complicit in murder, Jamie. You know full well that such language is little more than the most base form of rhetoric. How can I take you seriously? Shame on you for using a person's death to make political points.
Jamiet99uk (808 D)

Shame on you for treating his sister's calls for an inquiry into his death with, in your own words, "contempt".

If you have friends in positions of power within the Conservative party, then you have friends who are deliberately and purposefully causing misery for thousands of poor and vulnerable people in this country. Your "friends" are involved in persecuting Britain's poor and needy. It is they who deserve contempt.
Octavious (2701 D)

@ steephie

If the petition itself avoids Jamies disgusting use of language then I apologize for lumping them together. A shame if an honest petition is made to suffer from crap like Jamie's

The petition itself, "Hold an inquiry into benefit sanctions that killed my brother", I certainly agree with. Something clearly went wrong there and the people responsible should not be allowed to cover their asses. But "killed my brother" is a step beyond "negligently resulted in my brothers death", and "murder" is a step further beyond "killed". Is it meant to be an inquiry or something else?

"was the guy making this petition unaware of the trouble his brother was in?"

It was his sister who made the petition. The man died 18 days after his allowance was cut. She might not have had any money to spare and he might not have informed her right away that his allowance was cut. How can your first instinct be to blame his family?

Jamie, I will pretend I can't hear you. I hope you enjoy your job.

I heard your question, though, and I answered it honestly. Isn't that interesting? You get to start a conversation about what I do for a living, in the context of my political views, and yet somehow you don't need to participate in the conversation you started. I can only assume you were goading me or attacking me, since you interjected in this thread and addressed me directly, and now refuse to explain yourself.

I find it baffling that someone like Octo who is always quick to insist that language is not offensive is deeply offended by the word murder. So much so that he is willing to treat the petitioner with contempt. This is the same man who said darkie was a perfectly reasonable term to call a friend. Let's remind ourselves of this next time Octo goes off about 'race obsessed Yanks'.

abge's Craft Corner
My gf and I made a small table. Nothing intense; the pieces were pre-cut, we just picked what we liked and assembled and painted it. I'm pretty sure it ended up being more expensive than just buying one, but it was a fun project. http://tinyurl.com/lm89ydg

Anyone else have a fun project they're working on they'd like to share?

An article describing how press ties into the strategy of a high-level player. (I played with this guy years ago on Bounced. With all due respect to THM, MM, Ebay, VI, etc, he's still the best opponent I've ever faced).

Open CD Positions
We have a ton of open CD positions tonight. Take one, take two, take ten. Take them all if you'd like. The best (subjectively, of course) positions are those near the top but the ones at the bottom are all still in contention in their respective games. If a game is broken, send me a PM.
