I'm not a March Madness person (I don't watch any college basketball...or really any basketball, actually, that's the one sport of the Big Four in North America I don't watch...hell, I'd watch soccer before that, at least when you score a goal in soccer it feels earned, basketball, they score every 30 seconds, it feels cheap) so that definitely wasn't how I had it...

so, in a 32-team bracket, two sample first rounds would be:

#1 vs #32
#16 vs #17

supposing the favored seeds win the second round bracket is of course #1 vs #16

but supposing #32 beats #1, you would see #32 vs #16 instead

Well, right, PE, but this is the second round of a 64-round bracket. I'm just suggesting that the seeds should be preserved in the order they were there. For example, once #63 beats #2, then it plays whoever #2 would have. (The winner of 31-34 I think).

In other words, obi, to do this, you would read through the first 32 from the original 64. The ones who won, you would leave. The ones who lost, you would replace -- in-place -- with the lower-ranked author who beat them.
