Who Else...
Watches series with really bad acting, one-dimensional characters, and a plot that is the same every episode and has become a industry standard (hot chick has a spicy job, partner with which she exchanges humor below the level of Hades' toilet, boss who is watching over them as a paternal figure, nothing to laugh at, nothing to cry at just a major cringe every time a line gets spoken with flat faces)?

What's the deal with live matches?
OK, I'm new to this but as soon as the 5 minutes run out and we move to the next turn, there are only 30 seconds on the clock! It's annoying.

Message clarificiation
Trying to get to grips with the game in general.Just played a few no messaging anonymous games. Yet a clear pattern developed whereby different players would support other player's units that were in no danger at all. Is a common type of messaging e.g. ID132538#

This is nice, a gay couple kissing after getting married in Utah, the ban on gay marriage there was unconstitutional and has been over-turned.
Hooray for Gays !!
Putin33 (111 D)
22 Dec 13 UTC
I somehow doubt we'll hear a peep out of Invictus about this. Uganda is the heart of Africom.
Gunfighter06 (224 D)
22 Dec 13 UTC
How exactly was Utah's gay marriage ban unconstitutional? And since when do you know anything about the US Constitution? How many times have you read it in its entirety?
Putin33 (111 D)
22 Dec 13 UTC
Here we go again with gunfighter's supposed expertise on what the Utah constitution says.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
22 Dec 13 UTC
Was the case overturned under the jurisdiction of the US Constitution or Utah's own?
Draugnar (0 DX)
22 Dec 13 UTC
Read the article. The states highest court made the ruling which means it's unconstitutional according to Utah's state constitution. The other day the court ruled the ban on religious polygamy unconstitutional. You can only have one state recognized marriage, but as many religion based marriages as you like.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
22 Dec 13 UTC
Oh, there's a link. First post I saw was Gunfighter's.
Gunfighter06 (224 D)
22 Dec 13 UTC
My bad. But my argument still stands. I'm admittedly too lazy to read the entire Utah Constitution, but I highly doubt I'll encounter the word "marriage" outside of the context of polygamy.
Draugnar (0 DX)
22 Dec 13 UTC
Again, did you read the article. It states it was found unconstitutional for violating the equal protection clause. It's really quite simple. The people of Utah will have to pass an amendment to Utah's constitution, not just a law, if they want to ban gay marriage.
Putin33 (111 D)
22 Dec 13 UTC
Which they will probably do in record time.

That is the guy that said I was too negative earlier tonight. ^
Putin33 (111 D)
22 Dec 13 UTC
Nevermind, we all owe an apology of sorts to gunfighter. This judgement struck down the 2004 constitutional amendment via reference to the US Constitution.

Putin33 (111 D)
22 Dec 13 UTC
I have to say that, while I am glad with respect to the effects of the decision, the notion of judges overturning legislatures is not something for which I am supportive.

JECE (1248 D)
24 Dec 13 UTC
Putin33: Whyever not? What else is a constitution for? Are you just in favor of a seperate constitutional court? Many countries have that arrangement.
Putin33 (111 D)
24 Dec 13 UTC
I don't think courts should rule on legislation. They can rule on cases where individuals may have some grievance against a public entity, but overturning democratically enacted legislation, rarely a good thing.

What is a constitution for? Outlining the role of the various bodies of government and the distribution of power. It cannot plan for every single contingency and should not strait-jacket legislatures.
JECE (1248 D)
24 Dec 13 UTC
Putin33: Constitutions also outline basic human rights.
Putin33 (111 D)
24 Dec 13 UTC
But people who exist in the same time and place don't agree as to what those should be, let alone people across generations or even centuries. Better to hash it out via legislation and adapt it to existing circumstances than to make it inflexible via the constitution.
JECE (1248 D)
24 Dec 13 UTC
Putin33: You don't belive in protecting minorities, be they ethnic or political?
JECE (1248 D)
24 Dec 13 UTC
There are pretty basic principles that can be enshrined in a constitution. These are commonly ignored 'in times of war', but I can't see why they shouldn't exist at all.
Putin33 (111 D)
24 Dec 13 UTC
Yes, which is why I do not want courts intervening to overturn such protections, as they have done because they insist on adhering to an 18th century document with rigidity.
Putin33 (111 D)
24 Dec 13 UTC
Because you can always split hairs about the meaning of words, and because you cannot plan for all eventualities, and because the constitutional amendment process is too difficult.
tendmote (100 D(B))

@Putin33 The constitutional amendment process's difficulty is a deliberate threshold, and it actually does a pretty good job of weeding out the will of majorities doing stupid shit.
Putin33 (111 D)
24 Dec 13 UTC
It has more commonly done a 'good job' of ensuring we're stuck with an 18th century concept of government in the 21st century.
JECE (1248 D)
24 Dec 13 UTC
Putin33: You do realize that the only country crazy enough to stick with an 18th Century document with demonstrably vague wording is the States, right?
Putin33 (111 D)
24 Dec 13 UTC
Yes, but that was the point.

Like ALGOL60, the U.S. Constitution is not only an improvement on its predecessors, but also on nearly all its successors.

Correctness does not suffer wear and tear.
