I volunteer for whatever away mission is chosen. I'll be online and I don't think I'll have any character actions that we'll need to avoid tying my character up for.

I imagine it would be a 24 hour event that lasts until the start of next phase. If so, time zone should be no problem.

The fossils were gathered as 2 luxury by a harvester.

Casino: 2 steel, 7 credits, 100 workers and a councillor to run it. Earns colony 5 credits per phase. +1 corruption.
Nursing Home: 1 steel, 1 credit per phase upkeep 50 workers, allows elderly colonists a place to retire. +1 morale.
Cremation Mortuary: 1 Steel, 50 workers
+1 virtue funerary rights. Requires a religious leader to assist.
Social Networking: (1 crystal) Requires Anti Hack. -1 worker productivity, +1 morale. Each phase you learn trending habits of colonists.
Museum of Natural Sciences: 3 steel, 50 workers, Fossils. Adds +2 Morale and +2 Science
Armory: 50 workers 2 steel, Upgrade to Machine tool workshop. Creates (2) improved items per phase. Allows Mechs, Jump Pack infantry, Cyborg Commandos.
(Requires scraps to Cyborgs)
