In the variant Fall of the American Empire IV, WedDip allows ordering a fleet in Arctic Ocean to move to Northwest Territories, however this will fail because those two provinces are not adjacent.

I just tried this out in a sandbox game and the move doesn't fail. A fleet can move from the Arctic Ocean to Northwest Territories and back. I don't know if this is intentional or not, because the variants page doesn't mention it.
My username, and most of my posts made before 2020, are ironic.

Ah, I was mistaken, the move is possible as you discovered, thank you. It certainly doesn't look like it should be possible!

Hmm, on the vDiplomacy variant map for Fall of the American Empire IV, the boundary between Northwest Territories and Beaufort Sea is drawn a bit differently. Northwest Territories is shown as including part of the northern island group and is clearly adjacent to Arctic Ocean.

That probably explains it. Interestingly, both that site and the variants page on this site say that it's version 1.7, even though the maps have that difference. I wonder if this has been brought up before?Trigfea63 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 22, 2025 9:00 pmHmm, on the vDiplomacy variant map for Fall of the American Empire IV, the boundary between Northwest Territories and Beaufort Sea is drawn a bit differently. I've not seen it brought up until now. echidna has pointed out a few curious features/glitches in the software. This one seems maybe worth fixing.
@Kestas, how easy/difficult would it be to redraw the Empire IV map at the convergence of Northwest Territories, Beaufort Sea, Arctic Ocean, and Nunavut? It seems Northwest Territories should be larger and should border Arctic Ocean, while Beaufort Sea should be smaller and should not border Nunavut.
Re: Fall of the American Empire IV allows an order between non-adjacent provinces, which then fails.
In the vdiplomacy map is appears that Beaufort Sea does not border Nunavut.
I was curious. So back in WebDiplomacy, I tried the following move, with success:
"The fleet at Beaufort Sea move to Nunavut."

I protest every lost matches on this map.
Re: Fall of the American Empire IV allows an order between non-adjacent provinces, which then fails.
Thanks for pointing that out!

Indeed it does not.
