Would you support a massclaim? Then everyone’s roles are out in the open and we can just play mafia and the sniper becomes a vig (which is good if they’re town).

The mice already know each other. And odds are at least one is scum so the whole scum team knows.

If scum is apprentice, they know another that way and can even try to get their choice killed quickly to take the power from town.

If they have a different investigative role, they’ll learn more roles that way.

Also, I don’t like the idea of a mass claim especially because of the sniper role. Isn’t that just us offering up the sniper an easier accurate kill attempt? They could essentially make their kill based on a claim they believed the most and kill us….right? I get that roles aren’t AI but I feel like a mass claim right now would be a mistake.
You don’t want a town sniper to have a guaranteed vigilante shot?
They only get one shot and it doesn't appear outing for them in this version. Presuming the sniper survives the night, in another game we used the sniper on a widely suspected player day 2 who claimed -- questionably and only after the sniper claimed their own role so we knew who was taking the shot. That way it tested both of their claims at once.

I think that's closer to an optimal use of the sniper role than allowing some random player with either 1) perfect knowledge of their team who knows they're taking out a critical role on OUR side while remaining hidden themselves or 2) an uninformed player with a hair up their butt and an itchy trigger finger to shoot someone because they don't believe their role.

which is why individual claims might be useful for some roles, but massclaiming would give the 30% chance scum sniper a free shot on smth like the gravedigger. and 30% is high enough that i wouldn't risk the massclaim
The mice are interesting…

They already know each other.

And there’s a 50%+ chance the scum know them already.
Amusingly, one mouse could out all of them.

I don’t know if this is good or bad.
I think it's fine later, but the most important job we have day 1 as the village is to get the Gravedigger to day 2. Please do not let anybody jeopardize that outcome by narrowing down the POE.

Hmm. Would you not just do that by voting in the claimed mice, what’s the problem?

I don't, but I don't trust it. In Witch Hunt, though, the mechanics ARE complex so some explanations of them are necessary--it's just important to scrutinize them carefully because it's also easy to lie about optimal play. People can and do disagree, but some players flat out try to use it against the village.

Exactly as I have been. Mechs talk helps me look at all of the PRS and idiosyncrasies around them I may not have otherwise thought of. Also through observing and seeing how folks are interacting with one another.

You could. And then if the coven does have a mouse, which is likelier than not, they now have only one impediment to a free coven kill whenever they choose--that said, the mouseketeers are a poison in this version, not a true kill, so I'd want to think through the ramifications of that.
