Halp; man talk
My long term gf wants me to shave my mustache I’ve been working on for 3 months... I don’t wanna. Help me keep the stache.

For detail purposes I have a light blonde mustache it’s grown in enough to be actually considered a mustache but it’s just nudging it’s way into the spectrum... however it tooo me 3 months!

What do you think is motivating her? Feels weird to touch it? Thinks you look odd?

Can we get a mustache pic? Doesn't have to be the whole face - privacy and all. Just the lip sweater.

3 months to get a moustache that barely registers? My Nan could do better than that :p.
Facial hair is one of those remarkable things, though. Until very recently I assumed that all men have to shave at least once a day to avoid looking like a wookie, but apparently there are some who shave once a week or not at all.

My hair grows quickly out to a length that I look like a bank executive who had a long weekend. Then slows to almost a stop. I have an Eddie Murphy but I’m blonde. I have it trimmed (I actually went to a barber and had them do it explicitly so I had money invested in it and an argument point)

Her motivation is that she doesn’t like the tickle. -_- my motivation is I look like a 16 year old boy when I have no facial hair at all. Really makes being a amanager hard when your 17 year old cooks have more manly looking faces than you. -_- the mustache is a professional choice, so much so I feel I should be able to write it off on my taxes.

I get that. I keep facial hair for work purposes in an attempt to not look as young.

Durga. If you were with a guy who had not had a mustache for 3 years of your relationship and he suddenly got one would you be open to him giving it a chance? Or would you demand it he shaved?

I think this problem is better solved by letting more of your facial hair grow out rather than less. Before I grew a full beard I had a moustache and goatee, which doesn't look as weird if it doesn't connect. Eventually it did connect and then I grew out a full beard.

I have a moustache and a beard because if I didn't I'd have to shave at least twice a day.

I know what you mean. I'm in the same industry and have the same issue.CommanderByron wrote: ↑Fri Feb 02, 2018 7:56 pmHer motivation is that she doesn’t like the tickle. -_- my motivation is I look like a 16 year old boy when I have no facial hair at all. There's a literal middle ground between being clean-shaven and having a full-blown mustache that should solve your problem. Fully-connected and thicker goatees tend to look out of place on younger men, but something "almost there" that covers your chin and upper lip but doesn't grow out very thick or connect heavily tends to work.
I found a pretty easy stock picture online here for what I'm thinking of. (Minus the small sideburns which are inadvisable.) It's not a lot of facial hair and as long as your woman isn't scratching her face on your chin hair for whatever reason, she shouldn't have any issues with you keeping this. But despite not being a lot of facial hair, having any is a world of difference to how you appear.
I keep something pretty close to that all the time. I have an undercut and light but noticeable freckles, so the difference between having a mini-goatee and being clean-shaved is the difference between looking 17-18 years old and my actual age (26). Should work just fine.
Also post glorious stache pics before you shave it.

Don't do this. No matter what, don't do this.President Eden wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2018 12:53 amI found a pretty easy stock picture online here for what I'm thinking of. (Minus the small sideburns which are inadvisable.)

You could also go the other way and grow a beard.

Re: Halp; man talk
Sorry, I can’t help you Byron. I’m one of the aforementioned wookies that grows facial hair just by thinking about it. I have a perpetual 5 o’clock shadow. I hated shaving every day so I grew a beard. As a bonus my wife loves it. Win-win for me!
Maybe grow a “Kaiser Wilhelm” or a “Joe Buck”. That way when you go back to normal it will seem like a compromise. Not helpful, I know. While I side with the thought that it’s your face, do what you want i can’t help but think Durga has the most astute observation. Maybe your GF just doesn’t like it and this is her way of being gentle about it.

I am but 19, and I shave once every other week, but one thing I have heard over and over again is, if you can’t grow it, don’t. I have also heard that most girls don’t like facial hair unless it is full and manly (blond dosn’t usually fit this cut). It is possible to look older in the way you dress and the way your u hold yourself, and so it should be possble to make it clear to a partial obsurver that you are the superior.
