MAFIA 79: The Price is Right! [GAME THREAD]

Damn this is not at all like Town of Salem/the games of Warewolf I played in summer camp

Regardless, this is my list so far (In decreasing order of how much trust I have in them)

Townreads:
1. Me
2. Jamiet - for actually trying to collect info on the game
3. Bozo - Same reason as Jamie

Not sure/mid trust:
4. Eden - I think I'm biased because their explainer post is really stepping my game up
5. KoalaAttack - I explained why before and Bona is discrediting them with sub-par theories imo
6. Snowy - They're gonna be low until they get more active
7. S&C - They seem to be steering the game (I'll explain more below)

Scumreads
8. Bona - I might be putting them too low but I just don't like the ~vibe~ I'm getting from them. I don't know them well enough to make an *accurate* assessment but it seems that their posts are a lot of words but not a lot of substance
9. Chaqa - They are forthcoming on any particular stances at all

There is (frustratingly) little to gleam about rdr and damo from my POV. Anything to say about them comes mostly on the opinions of other people



For my opinion on S&C (because they're the lowest on my list that I haven't given a good explanation for):

I think every theory they've given so far has been rather flaky. They seem to be pushing hard to kill particular people without actually giving ample evidence to back it up.

To give a (bad) example: their shading of Damo makes practically no sense.

I disagree with the statement that I have been pushing hard to kill particular people. For Damo, I have lightly shaded them, definitely not pushing at all. For Fox, obviously yes, I did push for them because I thought they were Mafia and nobody tried to persuade me otherwise.

I'm currently voting President Eden, but nobody has really discussed yet whether my opinion has merit or not, but I definitely don't have huge evidence on them and won't pretend otherwise.

I guess I've been pushing for Koala a decent bit, but it's kind of hard not to.

3 Mafia

So if we Miskill today will we have 6 townies, 3 mafia on 3D?

I just think you've put a LOT of explanations for why you've voted Damo which seems like a smokescreen to cover up the fact you don't have one.

I did have a reason. No one had voted him. That's pretty odd, for damo especially, so I pushed it. It wasn't super complicated, and it was arbitrary as hell, but it was a reason.

And being a compulsive over-explainer isn't weaseling. I just have a real problem being misunderstood compounded with a really bad memory and a really bad communication style.

just piggybacking this because you fixed the quotes so I don’t have to

I think Bona’s walls here are a lot better from a signal-to-noise ratio. I know he and I engineered the situation in the previous game as mafia teammates, but everything I said then about writing to persuade was real. In the mafia chat he specifically said that he was going to include as many quotes as possible. That was done with the specific intent to make it tedious to read so most people would just go “tldr Bona big case on Eden, Eden flip scum, Bona town.” A lot of his writing in that wall would have an obnoxiously spaced quote and a drive-by comment of a few words.

Contrast to his post against Koala where he uses a url tag to cite to the message he’s concerned with, and then writes a paragraph analyzing what he thinks is interesting. Just from a formatting perspective it’s much more readable. That’s because (IMO) he actually cares about persuading people to vote Koala, whereas when he was bussing me he mostly cared about appearing to be an early adopter of the Eden wagon so that he wouldn’t look like he was bussing.

To be honest I think Eden's either

a) a member of mafia supporting an argument made by their fellow mafia without actually having to get involved or

b) just flattered someone is listening to them and has rose tinted goggles
