Yes, I am. I know it's easy to go down a rabbit hole about why someone would claim as either alignment. And maybe it's too early to dig into the reason (But Balki, why did you choose that particular point in the day phase to claim) in which case a kind, "Brian, STFU and look at something else," would suffice.

The psychology of such a move is of interest. What's the motivation as either alignment. I think Rivera offers something closer to a greater truth, but...

I got N1ed last game so it's not really sticking in my head.

Your D1 is uneventful, you were in the group of people that spoke early and disappeared, which I suggested earlier was scum indicative because scum are happy with the quiet, and I expect you to bite into things a little more in general.

In the lack of a strong scumread, my primary motivation is killing someone who isn't me, Balki, pyxxy, Chaqa, damo, or Koala today, and you're not one of those people.

Ah. I got D1'd last game because (as you put it), I was sucking all the oxygen from the room. So I aimed to do better this game and sit back and let others talk and just pipe in as need be.

I liked Chaqa's post a while back.

Town worcej is emotional and open with his thoughts, kind of like Durga. Scum worcej just doesn't do that and costs on a lack of mistakes (often in conjunction with heavier lurking in the later game). There's not much yet to warrant the emotionality, but when your tells are all town tells and you're not telling, you're a decent shot.

Is it just me or is the most common thing in mafia on this site for someone to say “I think X is Y because of how they responded to me/voted for me/read me” - it makes it so easy to be pocketed.

I think bo makes a very brave and valid point here.

Well, I commend the meta change if it's coming from a good place, but you're always going to catch some initial heat for a meta change.

Oh wait! I have another thought on players. You should never kill koalas, or vote to kill koalas. Being a koala-killer is a truly horrible thing to do, and should always be avoided if you have a shred of decency in your heart.

Why are people so anxious to play the game, D1 is pointless until the last five minutes anyway

This was my thoughts as well about Balki’s statements. Felt a little too try-hard for the first ~8 hours of the game.

But wouldn't you expect Balki to be aware of this? I think mafia would try not to bring in much attention. Of course this can go WIFOM and repeat but the discussion has to spark somewhere and I don't think being engaged in a serious manner - even if it is impossible to know anything without concrete info - is scummish.

I don't expect scum to be overly aware of themselves. I expect town to be natural and more carefree on D1 when information is at the lowest.

Does anyone else want to chime in on this idea put forth by Chaqa that "first voting" late in the day is scummy?

I'll at least prove Chaqa's take on me was awful:

D1 last game I failed to vote because I waited too long to vote.
D2 last game I voted with only 19:54 left in the phase.
D3 and beyond was dictated by pool voting and I was an outted-PR, so I was trying to lead the town in those posts.
