Yes, you’re reading him for noticing a thing about you and extrapolating from there. It’s not an awful read; it’s just an awful way to gather your reads and I used you as an example to make a point that supersedes this game.

To answer the question you started to ask and then stopped, yes I also noticed and it’s why I haven’t voted for you or actually pressed you on, well, anything despite several opportunities. You’re either obviously town or mafia sticking your neck out so hilariously far that you’ll fall off the cliff at some point. But I am leaning the former.

I've found a lot of success basing reads off simple things like this and building from there. Usually, if the base assumption is wrong, other things don't work out anyway.

I can't guess alignment from it (I could see him doing it either way, but more likely as town), but my best guess is he's lying and intends to come clean tonight. I think he wanted to shake something up? I'm not sure how I'd describe his thoughts.

I think scum!Chaqa would put more work in to appear normal after a supposedly stressful game, or to appear more stressed. Being right in the middle seems like non-acting -> townlean.

Chaqa does just about anything he wants and it's pretty NAI for him to be inactive at a game start.

I got N1ed last game so it's not really sticking in my head.

Your D1 is uneventful, you were in the group of people that spoke early and disappeared, which I suggested earlier was scum indicative because scum are happy with the quiet, and I expect you to bite into things a little more in general.

In the lack of a strong scumread, my primary motivation is killing someone who isn't me, Balki, pyxxy, Chaqa, damo, or Koala today, and you're not one of those people.

I am Civil War Veteran. I think the benefit of me claiming now outweighs the cost. I think I'm a reasonably to draw a visit from Town, and it's not worth the gamble.

If you think my choice to claim on Day 1 is dumb, let's talk about it in the AAR. It's done now.

@worcej, what do you find interesting about it? Does it cause you to lean Balki in one direction or another?

I think his claim was incredibly early and seems irrational to have been done. In doing so, he's simply creating a certain amount of chaos.

If Balki is town, he could be telling the truth because he is concerned about the random chance of getting a visit from another PR (valid thought process, but overly cautious imho) or he could be lying and forcing the scum to ignore him, allowing for a higher chance for scum to hit the real veteran sometime.

If Balki is scum, this is a great chance to take as a fake claim as it may draw out the real veteran to CC him (shitty exchange imho) but if there isn't one, because this is a semi-open setup and it's possible that there isn't a Civil War vet, then he just immediately made himself un-daykillable and really cannot be verified and you have to take him at his word.

So this is why I find it interesting - which one do we think it is?
