My opinion on the thread is that Chaqa seems off but if y'all are saying that last game was a doozy then I townlean him for being off

Let's talk about who seems likely to be Town and who seems likely to be a Wolf please.

I think the players who showed up early and then haven't even come back to shitpost are slightly more likely to be scum, as the quiet status quo benefits mafia and useless discussion eventually begets useful discussion. Beyond that, you're really the only one who's done anything to indicate their alignment in my eyes.

It's just a phrase and definitely not meant to be taken literally.

I don't actually think Damo is mafia, nor am I convinced their town, so it's a vote to serve as a placeholder for now. "Flying too close to the sun" is just my way of colouring the vote.

There is a 1 in 4 chance there is a CWV and no tough guy, which would be a good combination for us.

I think an argument can be made for the CWV, if there is one, to claim before N1 is over to prevent accidental town kills, but that would also give up the chance for the CWV to take out a mafia. I think I would stay hidden as the CWV, in my opinion the problems a hidden CWV cause the mafia are worth the risk.

Thanks for spelling that out; it's a starting point even though it's abhorrent to me.

Sure, and I'm not saying you have to have any particular conviction on his alignment either way. Obviously this is a time of little conviction, as not much has happened.

But should I infer from your vote that you think Damo is more likely to be scum than a player chosen at random? If so, what is it about his actions so far that suggest to you he is (even ever so slightly) more likely than random to be scum?

I am Civil War Veteran. I think the benefit of me claiming now outweighs the cost. I think I'm a reasonably to draw a visit from Town, and it's not worth the gamble.

If you think my choice to claim on Day 1 is dumb, let's talk about it in the AAR. It's done now.

GM NOTE:

I have been asked to further clarify the role of the Civil War Veteran, and potential interaction with the Tough Guy:

1. The Civil War Veteran is not listed in the Order of Night Actions because their "power" is not an action and it does not have to be activated. Instead, it is effectively "always on" and causes the CWV to start blasting as soon as anybody visits. Assuming the first visit the CWV receives is at night, he will keep blasting all night and will shoot all visitors.

2. The Tough Guy is immune to the first gunshot he receives. This can confer immunity to the Civil War Veteran, assuming the Tough Guy's protection has not already been used up at the point of visiting the Civil War Veteran.

3. Finally, note that the Civil War Veteran's reflexive blasting is not a protective power. If someone attempts to kill him, and this causes the CWV to start blasting, both the CWV and their attacker would die.

What should we take from it? What are you saying about the things Damo did with respect to Pyxxy and Rivera and what does it say about Damo's alignment?

I don't know if Balki claim is true or not but I strongly think he is town. Don't see any reason for scum to fake claim about it at this moment. Don't know if the claim is a benefit for town, it depends on a lot of variables, but it's a good way to be sure you stay alive longer, which I can see Balki thinking it's a huge benefit (to him).

Why are people so anxious to play the game, D1 is pointless until the last five minutes anyway

This was my thoughts as well about Balki’s statements. Felt a little too try-hard for the first ~8 hours of the game.

I can see a town motivation for not liking that nothing is happening 8 hours into the game, can't you?

I can if you don't find the joke phase entertaining at all, but the joke phase isn't a waste of time imho
