Re: XX Questions, Game LXII
What sort of person would get on the cover of TIME magazine, who had none of the jobs we tried to suggest?
The only person you're truly competing against, Wesley, is yourself.

Thoughts:
Could it be some kind of journalist or writer, but one whose work would not be deemed "entertainment"?

People could volunteer to take a decade and reduce to a qualifying shortlist.JECE wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 2:48 amHappy digging!

I've shown this list of clues / answers to a few friends and they all said "Colonel Sanders".
I think we have ruled out Colonel Sanders.
@Bona without an official "guess" are you willing to confirm that Colonel Sanders would be ruled out because there is, technically, at least one film about him...?

It seems like a lot of work, but ok, we can try it. I will take the years 1923-1926 (inclusive) to start with.damo666 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 9:44 amPeople could volunteer to take a decade and reduce to a qualifying shortlist.JECE wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 2:48 amHappy digging!

Earlier in the thread I did the research on the Colonel and found that movie, which I had never heard of before.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 2:41 pmSexy Colonel Sanders.Bonatogether wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 11:37 amhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Recipe_for_Seduction does in fact, rule out Colonel SandersJamiet99uk wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 9:52 amI've shown this list of clues / answers to a few friends and they all said "Colonel Sanders".

Kinda broke my brain to see A.C. Slater in that role.

Re: XX Questions, Game LXII
I was toying with the idea of it being one of the circus promoters. Ringling, or Barnum.
The thing is, Ringling was from Iowa and mainly lived in New York or New Jersey when not on tour. P.T. Barnum was born, and died, in Conneticut. So I don't think either of them meets the Southern United States connection.
This is hard.

Re: XX Questions, Game LXII
We spent a lot of questions on that. Maybe we should have started with more generic questions, but it's certainly not a job we've encountered before.

Maybe he was an insurance salesman specialising in policies for lobster fishermen.
Are there any famous southerners who did that for a living and managed to get on the cover of TIME magazine?
