If he wasn't it seems a bit of an odd sacrifice. Maniac makes more sense as the dolphin to me. I feel like this will get resolved in night actions so maybe it's best to drop it until tomorrow.

I wouldn’t say Jamie was in a tough spot, no. He was not exonerated by any events but not explicitly suspected either.
And I tend to agree that night will be revealing, but figuring out what to discuss in the interim is tough.

I just reread EOD, and I feel like Chaqa's flip on me is opportunistic. He framed it as if he had always scum read me and was just waiting to catch someone trying to save me. Yet the only person who had voted for not me in recent times was Maniac. And if was really concerned with connecting Maniac to me, that work has already been done for him, by Maniac, who has consistently expressed a townread of me. Chaqa even asked him about it earlier so he should be aware of it.

If town Chaqa was genuinely trying to catch people connected to me, I think he would be well aware of the fact that he failed. Rather, I think the more likely explanation is that scum Chaqa would prefer me to die and wanted to cover his motive.

This is textbook "caught for the wrong reasons" reaction. So Chaqa is probably town.

I think VT was probably the best option for the flipper to choose, because any other role would be resolved when the real PR/miller was revealed. In order for town to win, we are going to have to hit the flipper, so we are going to be dealing with inaccurate information at some point unless we lose with the flipper surviving.

Regardless of Maniac's alignment, TFB, ghug, and Sabi are all good scum candidates, so I think they all should be voted out at some point. They all independently tried to save celaph on D1 and D2. It could be just that simple.
