Well, of course: I don’t want to vote for the Jester. And I brought up this conversation because you suggested darg might be the third party. But perhaps that was… in… jest?

Generally I don't worry overmuch about accidentally jestering day 1. Good on them if they did, but I think pure min/max it's better to try to properly vote out scum than carefully avoid type II errors, and ending up voting out town.

Killing jester day1 might actually be not such a terrible side effect. Eliminate that pesky wifom "oh he's not actually scum, he just wanna die" train of logic thats undoubtedly to follow. And give the pr's gamesolve time.

I agree with this. Given how challenged town has been in general, how easy the Jester wincon is, the fact that town can still win even if Jester wins, and - most importantly - the possibility that scum may attempt to “roleplay” Jester to avoid being DK’d, killing the Jester does not seem so terrible. Rather it seems like an inevitability, and we should not let people who appear scummy live because they might be Jester.

Town does not have to actively avoid the jester vote, and thus though one might argue that accidentally voting out the jester might waste a day vote it's minimally different from a misvote.

Likewise, as scum does not have to press for the jester nk they can feel free to shoot literally as though the jester does not exist in the game.

This game can be played entirely as though the jester does not exist. I don't see the point. Not that saying anything now will change anything.

Historically speaking. I remember someone saying it was a good idea to vote for whoever you were voting for D1, because as town you are good at picking up on scum D1, and if you are scum, you are probably bussing. Or did you say that about yourself?

I think the only time I've ever bussed D1 was that game we won with your wife, Durga. I also tend to be wrong D1, so I suspect you have me confused with someone else.

It's not like you to not have detailed evidence to cite. You trying something new?

In the game you are referring to (M60), you voted for summit and myself early D1. In M58, you briefly voted for your teammate bo_sox D1. In M33, you voted for your teammate Durga (DO) six minutes into D1, and you bussed some D1 in the first game I played here (M30). However, reviewing your past scum games did show there were more games where you did not bus D1 than games you did bus D1.

Your vote may have been a joke, but I would be OK with DKing snowy D1 for claiming VT the way he did. It is possible it was just WIFOM for the mafia, but it seems like something scum might say.

I have also found snowy to be a bit “off.” Bob also mentioned this. In the previous game and GT snowy seemed very acute and invested. So far here snowy has avoided directly answering questions, gone off on tangents and also taken a bit of an aggressive and demeaning attitude. It does seem that snowy wants to be DK’d.

If snowy was the Jester, do you think this is how he would play? How do you think he’d play as scum with a Jester in play?

how significant those effects are depends entirely on how we approach it in our reads and our votes
even if we decide to write it off, that is a strategic decision, and the existence of the jester will effect our thoughts somewhat regardless
