Your half right. There is obviously bias towards players I've seen play well as town consistently before. But it's more selective than strictly my experience with them. See someone like Chaqa who I've played with plenty before, but wasn't on the list.

Good player Vecna is a meta thing. As town he has generally done a good job solving the game, obvtowning himself, and drawing the NK. He's null in my books right now, but I think DKing a null Vecna on D1 is a bad move.

Of course I read this post. But if Vecna is actively playing badly, is it really the right response to decide that “Vecna is good, even though they’re actively being bad, so let’s put them off the table?” Isn’t this kind of reputation based protection exactly what can be abused by scum by doing a parrot impression all D1?

As town, my reaction is more, “Gee, this bit of Vecna’s is stupid. I wish they would contribute to the game.” Not, “Good players do parrot impressions sometimes.”

So, protecting a “good player” who is actively unhelpful to town, and could be actively hiding their scumminess, does not make good sense to me.

You make good points and obviously if Vecna keeps doing this, we'll kill him. But he's had a good track record of picking his behavior up later on (see M63 and 64). I called it a meta save for a reason, it's not grounded in his behavior this game.

You seem to think I'm scum. Do you think I'm scum protecting my scum buddy Vecna or trying to win town points by defending town Vecna?

I think if you are scum, you are trying to get points for townreading Vecna before he gets bolted/NKed.

I seem to recall Vaporwave had the same problem of seeming scummy while being town that you, worcej, also have.

To use something he once said about me: I expect more out of him than what is currently occurring. Being busy is fine, but still the 3 posts so far have been non-contributing.

To give him some reasonable excuse, Eden graduated law school yesterday and has a friend of ours in town as well as his family until tomorrow, so he has very very legitimate reasons to be MIA at the moment.

So are you saying I should give him a pass and move to someone else?

For now. I expect his activity picks up a lot tomorrow and Thursday as his friends and family exodus themselves.

I voted for perp because I think he's Either a newbie or an experienced player trying to act like one. I really don't know who else to vote besides him though.

Actually, what it most likely was is the bot didn't recognize that 'Perp' was shorthand for you yet. After his second vote, I think the bot 'learned' it.

No, the bot doesn't learn. It has the functionality to hard code special nicknames, and otherwise allows any unambiguous prefix of at least 3 letters.
