Nothing any conservative didn't already know, but perhaps proof to anyone who thinks that CNN is unbiased (highly doubt anyone thinks CNN has fair news coverage regardless) https://www.projectveritas.com/news/cnntapes-reveal-networks-bias-against-president-trump-tucker-carlson-he/

Every news network has some kind of bias. Anyway, sounds like O'keefe may catch a charge out of the stunt. CNN has referred the *potentially criminal* action to law enforcement.

CNN has some bias. News at 11.

So the great Project Veritas revelations as of today are:

- Some people at CNN believe Tucker Carlson is a racist. You may not agree but it isn't a controversial opinion.

- CNN won't go out of their way to publicize Trump's election fraud nonsense. This isn't bias...just as not giving equal time to flat-earthers, anti-vaxxers and creationists isn't bias.

I am disappointed. I hope their "revelations" get better as the week goes on.

It is laudable if individuals and organizations call out news organizations for bad behaviour. It is laudable if we teach people to get their information from multiple sources. This is what will make the news better.

However, I don't believe this is what Project Veritas is trying to do. At least from what I have seen, the objective appears to be to suggest all news organizations are equally bad, from CNN to Fox News to Alex Jones to random pundit on youtube (or worse to suggest that mainstream news organizations are even less trustworthy that random youtube pundit)...and so people learn to watch/read from only the news sources or pundits which agree with their pre-existing biases.

We already see the results of this training with the response to the election fraud nonsense. The news organization at Fox isn't so insane to go all in with repeating Trump's election fraud claims...so people are switching to Newsmax/OANN so they can continue to listen only to info which confirms their existing beliefs. This isn't a good thing.

The failure of trust in institutions is a social and societal health issue. Trust in journalists, politicians and medical advice must be very poor at present.

I've seen people claim this is mental illness, and signs of delusion, but I think that is way off the mark. Without trust in your government education system, or medical system (during a pandemic) you are likely to see more home schooled kids growing up without a clue, anti-vaxxers spreading disease (and outbreaks of things like measles in their children), and worst of all civil unrest in the streets. I don't know any other country which seems to sick.

My deepest apologies for being homeschooled. I truly didn’t realize that was offensive

You being home schooled isn't offensive, and there are many reasons one might choose to home school. But one is a distinct lack of trust of institutions.

Unfortunately the education systems in most developed countries are monoliths. Very slow to change, teachers and their unions stuck in their way of doing things. I would much prefer to have options, like local schools which offer various internationally recognised qualifications (A levels and international baccalaureate being two I can think of).

However I don't have the qualifications to offer a better schooling experience to kids than a properly trained teacher (never mind the advantages of socialising with others - vital for working on a team in the modern workplace).

The point being, if your homeschooling is a sign of distrust, that isn't offensive. It is a sympthon of social/societal ill.

When it comes the shithead Trump, there is no reason at all to stay unbiased. The shithead himself regularly attacked media and CNN and started off by having an very unhealthy relationship to media. No person and no media company can not have no opinion on the shithead. THEY ARE 100% EXCUSED!

There is no such thing as 'unbiased' reporting. The vast majority is biased towards a human-centric perspective. Very few articles take (for example) an animal centric, or biodiversity first perspective. It is a consequence of the authors being human.

And yes. Freedom of speech is exactly supposed to allow the expression of opinions which may be biased (fairly or not) against the current President. Trump has spent 4 years undermining public trust in the media, which is unhealthy for society, democracy and public discourse.
