No one becomes straightup townclear but for example, the gladiator is almost definitely town because what scum team would want that or be afraid by town having that.
Well Darg said he'd pick gladiator...

I don't think scum finding out town roles is anywhere close to being worth the "info" a massclaim could give town, because it still doesn't clear anyone and we'd be drowning in wifom trying to guess what scum did. That's not only unhelpful for solving, but it also makes it a lot easier for scum to hide.

Since the roles are NAI I don't think there's any town benefit to the massclaim, but I'd like to hear Bozo's opinion on it since he's our mechanical king.

Wondering if flum is getting pressure in the day chat to stop advocating for a massclaim.

Provided my team was more confident than I was (quite likely), then more roles would have been available. I can do a re-do, and account for debt if you'd like?
OK, I would like to know what you think would have been optimal for the mafia.
90
Recruit (10)
Restless spirit (-25)
[those two are good, the rest I picked just to fill remaining space with minimal cost]
Fruit vendor (-24) [I thought I read somewhere that you could "sell fruit" or something; it was a source of income]
Neighborizer (-24) [cheap, and seems to do something]
Public Vanilla (-24) [also cheap, and it's not bad]
Voyeur (-26) [cheap]

A lot of this is just to get those first two, which, in my opinion, are the coolest.
I do hope you are scum

If not, can you please tell me why you can't or don't want to answer the question?
Because I am absolutely unclear on much and I think a lot of the ideas are ludicrous (a la Fruit Vendor; how is that a helpful enterprise?). However, given the White Flag offers 20 additional credits, I'd choose that, recruit another. I'm not sure after that.
Recruit for 80 and quasi sell it back for 20 eh? I hope you are scum with Macca.

I do think there are benefits to a mass claim, but I do not think they outweigh the drawbacks at this time.

The benefits I see are:

1. The roles are not completely NAI, because the mafia picked their roles (or 3 out of 4 if they recruited), so some roles would be more suspected as scum roles than others.

2. Since everyone has a role, there likely will be claiming at EOD to try to avoid the DK, which could get the DK deflected onto a town with a strong role. A mass claim would allow us to prevent this.

bo_sox, HR, and Maniac have not responded, and Vecna's only response was to criticize my selections.

I hadn't put much thought into it, but I would probably do something dumb like going super far negative to get really good roles and a fouth member and day chat and stuff. High risk, High reward.

What's funnny is, I was thinking and I KNEW you would be doing some crazy meta-mechanical-analysis of the pregame purchases lol
I hope you are scum with HBrian and Macca

Uh I’m just glad I didn’t have to choose. Looks like the extra recruit is an obvious choice and that takes most of the budget. Other than that it’s probably keep away from town more than anything. Does scum gain money as the game goes on? How do they get out of the negative if they were to go negative?
These kinds of setup questions are so suspect to me. If you really didn't know you could read the setup and have an answer much faster than waiting for bozo to answer. And you don't seem like the lazy type, so I'm not loving this "I don't know how scum mechs work" angle from you.
I’ve read the setup several times both before and since then and am still confused where the 5*n part of the money setup comes from. To me that looked like a nightly allowance so that’s where my brain went.
5n is the initial credit, in this case 90 as n=18

@Jamie - I'm uncomfortable talking about things that mafia can presently act on or do, lest I bring up some idea that they haven't thought of. I'm fine talking about options that are no longer available to them, since doing so can't possibly help them anymore.

So my answer to bozo was about what roles I'd have picked, but not what sorts of actions I'd take n1 onward.

If I were scum, I'd likely have taken two investigative roles, and one of: PV/fruit vendor, depending on who the team was. I wouldn't have recruited.

##call gm does mafia get a nightly allowance?
GM Response:
The scum team have a game balance that started at $90. They used that money how they wanted in the pre-game phase, and now have some left over. Let's call their leftover money as '$X'.

For the rest of the game, each mafia member can do faction abilities on top of any PR abilities they may have. The price for the faction abilities is located on the first page. When they do them, this will either add or cost money, so $X will change nightly.

I'm not the GM but this has been discussed. They get no "new" funds. The only way they can generate credit is by using the options that create credit in the setup, such as creating bulletproofs, etc. They have no ongoing new income.
This was a much better response than my wordy one...
