That was the Guomingdang (Kuomingtang) position. I believe Taiwan is moving away from that...China is more concerned that Taiwan will officially declare independence instead:

Yes, the Government in Taiwan officially behaves as if the People's Republic of China is just an upstart breakaway political faction. Albeit an upstart political faction that has inconveniently, if temporarily, taken control of 9.6 million square kilometers of land, over which they should still be recognised as the legitimate authority.

The Gaza contingent? Keep their heads down as much as possible until the latest nonsense blows itself out, and vote in anyone but Hamas in the next elections. Assuming that the Palestinian powers that be allow elections. It was looking pretty dodgy even before the trouble.
