Red skies hoax?

#1 Post by principians » Thu Sep 10, 2020 1:40 pm

Any one remembers skies as those seen yesterday in California or those seen in Australia some months ago? Do you really think these are normal fires? What else needs to happens so that people starts opening eyes and realize the only hoax regarding climate change is the one forged by big oil industry?

I dare say he's talking about the wild fires in California. He seems to believe they are being driven by climate change rather than being a bad case of natural fires fed by a prolonged dry spell and the build up of fuel you get when we enthusiastically put out smaller fires instead of letting them follow their natural course.

I imagine all these things play a part.

Meanwhile Trump blames California for poor preparations when almost half the lands are under federal control and the other half are private lands with the state only controlling 3%. It's never Trump's fault for the problems he caused.

One thing I find surprising in this is - why isn't Trump making an appearance? He went to Louisiana to survey the damage from the recent Hurricane. I would argue this natural disaster will turn out far worse than the Hurricane.

"prolonged dry spell " - not at all the kind which you might expect due to a changing climate...

Also, any of the human activity which is worsening these fires, but not directly attributable to climate change, is still damaging the environment, WHICH WE LIVE IN. And these fires are releasing CO2, so any human activity is a factor in increasing climate change (like water use in California, i'm not sure whether farm use of water causes more wild fires, or if it just fire prevention which leaves extra fuel on the ground... But humans definitely have an effect).

Californian here - it’s not just California. 10% of Oregonians have been evacuated. Washington and Colorado are also suffering badly

we have never seen fires this severe in history they are further evidence that the climate crisis is accelerating.

we _need_ to start thinking about these fires as the _least_ severe of the next 20 years.
