"Social Square" 49 players Gunboat Series

I would be willing to manage something bigger if enough people are interested:

• 49 players, so 7 boards per round

• 8 rounds

• each player is guaranteed to meet each opponent exactly once

• each player is guaranteed to play a different country in the first 7 rounds, while the 8th round will have random country assignments

I don't expect this to be a "top 100 gunboat", let's say we take the best 49 subscribers based on gunboat GRs; other subscribers may sub-in if needed

Settings to be defined with the participants, but surely

• gunboat

• anonymous

And then I'd say

• some level of simultaneity, i.e.:
  • all games start at the same time, or
  • first N rounds start at once, then each new game starts as soon as all the players in it have no more than N-1 running games

• a reasonably high RR (80%?)

• a "tournament" scoring system: tbd

• excused missed turns, phase length, etc: tbd

You're more than welcome. How long it will take? It depends on simultaneity and phase length, excused missed turns / CDs, pause requests, players quickly readying up or not..

Two sample scenarios:

• Start with 4 simultaneous rounds and then start all following games as soon as possible as I explained in my previous post, with 48/24 hrs/phase. An average game may last between 45 and 70 days, so we may think of about 4 months

• Start all rounds at the same time, probably with longer phases, say 72/36 hrs. An average game may last between 70 and 105 days, so we may think of about 3.5 months

So assuming this starts in September, and we allow for a 15 days break for holyday season, it may finish somewhere between January and February.

Ranked seems ok to me. The bet size will have to be smallish since some players may not have, or want to spend, the points needed to join 8 high bet games at the same time

It may take a while to get 49 players. Is there a way we can do this without a full rank? Or is it better to wait a long time?
