Great news all around. I'll make the game September 15th, if that works for everyone.

1. MadMarx - 4.5 (GR = 350.189)
2. Yonni - 5
4. ATC - 13.5 (GR = 255.26, had to go back a long way to find this one)
5. swordsman3003 - 16.5 (GR = 248.157)
6. TheFlyingBoat - 35

If you need one more, I am currently at 117, but was a top 10 a long time ago....

Would me more than happy to play with you. I'll stick to the original format I suggested. If it gets pushed to a second game and needs an extra player, I could play a 2nd one.

1. MadMarx - 4.5 (GR = 350.189)
2. Yonni - 5
4. ATC - 13.5 (GR = 255.26, had to go back a long way to find this one)
5. swordsman3003 - 16.5 (GR = 248.157)
6. TheFlyingBoat - 35
7. rdrivera2005 - 117

Ill play (rank 10? But probably going to tank after a recent loss)

That said, would need someone to DM me on discord when the game starts because I am not in any games currently and may not check webdip daily. Same username (in the wedip discord server) as here.

How does this thread get over 1100 views and only 7 people sign up? Back in the day we’d get 4 to 5 games pretty much every time someone started on of these threads, don’t be shy people, every game will match people of similar skill, definitely worth trying a game out if you haven’t before...

Oh man ATC!! So tempting. How about we all take an evening, and do a live voice chat 15 minute phase game instead, hmm?

I'll get a second game going! Looks like I just dodged getting wrecked by Marx again :-D

I'd love it if the powers that be shared some stats about activity here over time. I wonder if fewer people are playing FP games or if its the change to forum or something else entirely.

I don't have any hard stats for you, but I'll play.

The forum is traveled just as much as it used to be, but it is more difficult for a topic to gain the exposure that it used to when the most recent posts were just at the top of the forum. Likewise, skilled games are less frequently played by new players, especially new players trying to blend with the older crowd - just look at GR; it's exceedingly rare for a new player to come into town and start competing with the older names. Any feedback you have that could help to change that is welcome, but just know that development is slow and major projects are on standby at the moment.

I highly recommend this series! It's very fun, and one of the first organized games I ever played on the site. Unfortunately I am blessed with a very full time job at the moment and I get a bit too committed to my press games so I'm sticking to gunboat only for now, but everyone should sign up if they're playing press at all.

@Bo, I've got no suggestions to be honest but happy that you're up for a game!

G1
1. MadMarx - 4.5 (GR = 350.189)
2. Yonni - 5
3. ben9990 - 10 (message on Discord to start)
4. ATC - 13.5 (GR = 255.26)
5. swordsman3003 - 16.5 (GR = 248.157)
6. TheFlyingBoat - 35
7. rdrivera2005 - 117

G2
8. Sickofpalantirs - 213
9. bo_sox - 302.5 (GR = 142.11)

4 out of 9 player so far had expired by the latest GR list. Nice to see people coming out of the woodwork. (also the expiration should be longer)

bo may have only been “game” to shed light on site activity (w/o hard stats), rather than literally play in the GR Challenge, but he can confirm... Don’t want anyone to get their hopes up for clashing with elder bo if he’s not intending to play...

I don’t know how much exposure threads used to get but 1100+ views doesn’t seem like an exposure problem. I don’t know if new players immediately competing with older names is the best goal, may be better to master the basics first, which is arguably better done with players of similar ability, and brings us back to the beauty of the GRC... That said, the fewer that sign up for the GRC the more likely you will be able to compete against players of a higher skill set (if you are knew to the site and that is of interest)...

I saw non-anon in the initial post - is that preference flexible? Non-anon feels like a different game.

Totally flexible. I kind of like non anon for games like this because I don't see anyone getting worried about any particular name when theres a generally strong group all around. Gives us a chance to chat more freely and put a name to the "face"

The issue with non-anon is the incentive to look through an opponents' prior games as X country to get clues as to how they might play again. That creates additional workload and introduces a metagaming element.

I dont want to impose my preference, but did want to voice it

Or, in non-anon, if I draw Germany and Swordsman draws England, suddenly I feel obliged to read everything he has written about England (the whole ODC journal lol)
