Hello,

We've been having a go at our first Diplomacy game in quite a few years and I'm somewhat confused by what's happening in our game. I've uploaded a screenshot of the latest moves on the board, as can be seen here: https://imgur.com/1kJ0SDl

More specifically, I can't for the life of me figure out why Russia is unable to take St-Petersburg back from the English. As far as I understand the rules (I obviously don't):

• Livonia supports the Moscow army move to St Petersburg
• Army in St Petersburg holds
• Norway supports the hold of the army in St Petersburg
• Fleet in Sweden attacks Norway which cuts the support hold to St Petersburg

What I expected to happen: Moscow takes St-Petersburg as its now 2VS1, since the support hold of the opposing party is cut by the attack on Norway. Instead it seems nobody moves at all and all orders have a red cross.. and I don't really get why.

Can anyone help explain?

From the looks of it, though I can't be certain without checking the written orders (which you can in your game), it seems Russia misordered Livonia. It's supporting St.Peters into Moscow rather than the other way around.

In your game, below the player list, click "Orders" to check the archive of written orders.

Found your game, which confirms my suspicion:

Russia:
The fleet at Sevastopol move to Rumania. (fail)
The fleet at Sweden move to Norway. (fail)
The army at Moscow move to St. Petersburg. (fail)
The army at Livonia support move to Moscow from St. Petersburg. (fail)

Thanks for your help, that's indeed it and we've now found the orders archive as well which we didn't know was there.

Just a plain mistake by Russia it seems.

It's an easy mistake to make since webDip flips the order of the order. Instead of Livonia supports Moscow to StP as you would write in FtF it is Livonia supports "an army yo StP, from Moscow"
