Cancel not Draw!

#1 Post by Flame » Mon Oct 19, 2020 11:25 am

I wish in wDip engine there was not a possibility to vote draw when all the starting powers are alive. Cause multiple games are played by rookies and they do several seasons and press "vote Draw". In this case we have misunderstanding in variant statistics - tons of draws with no combat at all. If all powers left on the board -> it's not a draw! Game should be cancelled :!: :!: :!:

There is the opposition to that that some players inexperienced as they are cannot change the situation, so they draw. To them is a step on their learning of the game and not fair to cancelled and not count on their stats.

If everybody agrees it's a draw, it's a draw. If you dislike games like this all you have to do is not vote draw, and you'll never have to be part of a 7wd you don't want to participate in.

I understand your frustration, flame... But draw ( and thinking of Mahan, a "draw in being") is a very legit strategic and tactical tool.

Flame: When I did analysis of games on webdip I removed all games that were drawn before a solo is possible (1903 I think? I don't remember).

For the 1903 solo I think everyone else has to help, though.

It would be nice if cancelled games were persisted, though. I think vDip maybe has this? I remember looking in to it once but I think it was annoying to implement for some reason that I don't remember.

A bigger problem in classic statistics are games where solos happen because players are missing or otherwise not functional. When I looked in 2015, around 60% of FP games ended in a solo on webdip.

I put in a draw a month ago, just to see what it did. Nothing much happened.
