American Empire Map: Lake Ontario and Lake Erie

Can one move fleets into Lake Ontario or Lake Erie on the American Empire map? How does that work. The variant information doesn't say but they are labeled on the map.

I think you can move into them, and the St. Lawrence river is coast all the way to the Atlantic, allowing you to move your fleets out of the Great Lakes if/when it is necessary.

Thank you! Also, on the map Lake Huron is physically connected to Lake Superior but the variant information only says you can move directly from Lake Michigan to Lake Huron but doesn't say you can move from Lake Superior directly to Lake Huron? Can you?

No, you can't. The map is not perfect in this variant.
