Introducing Emergency Pauses

#1 Post by jmo1121109 » Sun Apr 14, 2019 10:42 pm

As of today there is a new option available for members on the "Contact Us Directly" page accessible on all games by clicking "Need Help?"

If you have completed 10 games on the site you will see a new option called "Personal Emergency". You have 1 registered personal emergency in a 6 month span and will not see the option if you do not qualify for it based on completed games/having used it in the last 6 months.

This tool is only to be used if you have a medical emergency, if someone in your family has a medical emergency, if your area is impacted by a natural disaster/terror attack, or you experience a power outage. Vacations do NOT count as a personal emergency.

Using this tool will instantly pause all of your games that you are not defeated in, email the mods with the type of emergency, and record a log for the mods to see which games were impacted. The moderator team will give you 7 days to follow up with them to explain how long you need a pause for and to get more details to ensure the tool is not being abused. If they do not hear back after that 7 day period, they'll work to replace you in your games. The mods will also post in global for the impacted games explaining why the game was paused. If it is a tournament game the TD will be allowed to dock pause time for the player, but they will not be allowed to unpause the game if the player is out of pause time until the moderators have had time to determine what is happening with the member.

The moderators will also have an option to ban people from using this tool, or to grant them another emergency pause in less then a 6 month span if necessary.

Please do not abuse this tool as it is designed to give peace of mind to anyone in an emergency situation. We've had people email us shortly after car accidents, while going into emergency surgeries, and during family medical emergencies and we don't want anyone to have to be worried about their games during a time like that. So abuse of this tool will result in no less then a 50% point dock and a possible ban.

If you do not qualify for this tool, but have an emergency email the moderator team and they'll do their best to get to you as quickly as possible.

If you click the "Need Help?", there's an option to select it there.

The menu options I can see are "Home", "Forum", "Games", "New Game", "Search", "Settings", and "Help/Donate".

There isn't one called exactly "Need Help?" and if I click "Help/Donate" there's no such option in there.

Sorry, this sounds like a good idea, but whoever designed it didn't make it easy to find.

Every game you are in has a "Need Help?" button right above the voting buttons.

and in Help/Donate one of the first options is:

"Contact Us Directly
The fastest way to get help from the moderator team!"

Sad that terror attacks are now so common that its an expected use of the button.

Much thanks to the team though for this <3

You need to actually be playing Diplomacy games to find it ;-)

This is a great addition to the site and I applaud the dev team for putting this in!
