Dream feature:

Allow games to start without max players in a custom mode or private game. I want to play on large maps without having to have 10+ players.

So this is in the same vein as the recent Emergency Pause feature added, but would address the more day-to-day issues and hopefully prevent the need for pauses in most circumstances:

Allow each player in a game to have a single 'Extend Phase Length' option. This would add to the current phase time one full-phase length. So if its 2 hours to phase end on a 24-hour phase game, using this option would add 24 hours to the current phase time, or making the phase end in 26 hours instead of 2. The player who made use of their extension would be displayed in the Global Chat as 'Country extended the phase.' Only one extension could be used per phase.

Additionally, each player would also have a single 'Restore Player's Extension' option. This option could be used anytime after an extension has occurred to restore another player's Extension option. I'd imagine this would be useful when one player extends a phase length on behalf of another who would have missed the phase, with the player who would have missed then able to restore the player who acted on their behalf's extension. Restoration of another player's extension would be anonymous, and player's would not be able to tell who still has a restore extension option available, except for themselves.

I’m not sure I understand what’s going on with the second part of that. Other players can opt to forgive the use of the extension, or not?

@bo_sox48,

Basically yea. For examples, let's say I'm playing a live game and there's 1 minute left on the timer and I can tell France hasn't entered any orders, so I go ahead and use my extension to give France more time to get the orders in.

France comes back in time and sees a message from me saying I extended the timer for him, and he can then use his 'Restore' option to give me another extension (to use should I need it for my own purposes).

If extensions were ever implemented, my guess is that we would simply import the existing tool on vDiplomacy. You might check that out. There are (sometimes code-based, sometimes practical) reasons why we don't have some of the tools that exist over there, though, so just because it exists over there doesn't mean we'll automatically bring it over here.

An interactive map like on vDip would be awesome. Oh, and statistics for each variant as on vDip.

The interactive map I plan on porting over. However the stat page charts use flash so I 100% cannot port that over. The entire page would need to be re-written in anything but flash.

Just wondering, but why does search redirect to the old search page after the menu turned green? :D

Since it's under "search games" now, and I personally found that a bit misleading....couldn't find how to search for users until now haha

That was a problem with your internet cutting out or something interfering with the load of all the files the forum uses. Not a site problem.

You are right, but it is set BEFORE nazisme and created AFTER it, in the 50ies, right after the WWII, when the collective mind of "Bad Germans" was still active. Consciously or unconsciously. As the game has nothing to do with nazi Germany, we could change its color. Thats's all I say. Moving forward. In the 21st century :-)

I would like to propose to change the color of Germany. I never really realized it, until I showed the game to my German friends and they all screamed: "What ?! you cannot seriously give that nazi brown to Germany, that so politically incorrect"
So for the one who like me until recently didn't know, this brown on the map was the nazi's color, starting with the brown shirts.
If Austria would be slightly more red, we could have an orange Germany :-) we are in the 21st century, this connotation could be left behind.
The game, however, is not set in the 21st century.

Original board has a black Germany - the color of Prussia. This is historically accurate, but probably can't be utilized due to the lines/borders being black as well. The color brown probably has no connection to the brownshirts.

It's a color on a map. If you try hard enough you can find a way to get offended at any of the country's colors. This is the first complaint I've heard about it in 10 years on the site, and the colors work well for various colorblind configurations so I'm not planning on changing them.
