Goldfinger tip-toed down the stairs, in the direction the noise was coming from. The footsteps were moving away, rapidly. He followed close behind. He wasn’t going to play hero, but figured the safest place was to go where the Bonds had just been. He hoped he could reunite with Blofeld, their host, and he would have an panic room in the mansion where they could hole up and hide, or even a secret escape route. These Bonds were just too much for them to handle.

To his left a door was open, bullet holes letting light through from the other side. Goldfinger opened it and inside was a study. A large desk sat on the other side of the room, and the walls were covered floor to ceiling with fully stocked bookshelves. Across the desk was a chair facing a large picture window. Golfinger saw that someone was in the chair…not moving. He approached and slowly spun the chair towards him…A bullet was in the man’s head.
