Royalty, Politician, Explorer, or High-ranking military?
No.
born during the 20th century (1900-1999)?
The 20th century was actually 1901-2000, but I'll accept the question as referring to 1900-1999. No.
Died at 75 years old, or older?
Yes.
Born during 1821-1920?
Yes.

1,4,5,6,7. Real dead human male, born in the British Isles.
2,10,12. Born 1821-1899.
11. Died more than 75 years old.
3,9. Not mostly known for contribution to writing, art or music (except in a very stretched meaning); royalty, politician, explorer, or high-ranking military.
8. Left the British Isles at some point in his life, either temporarily or permanently.

Yes.

Yes. But I'm honestly curious of the question. Is there a part of England that is "currently" England, that was not always England (at least since the Scottish Wars)?

Not a crazy guess. Not correct. But not crazy.

Five questions left, and you still don't know what he did for a living.

2,10,12. Born 1821-1899.

I was thinking more the opposite: Monmouthshire used to be considered arguably England, but is now considered unambiguously Wales.

Can his main source of fame be classified as "the arts" in a broad sense, but not writing or music?

No. This person is not an artist. The part that was "in the broadest sense" was writing or music.

Yes.

Scratched as requested, but advise not to ask again. Won't help you.

Three questions left and you still don't know what he did for a living.
