I'm going to ask this question again: is this a character created by J.R.R. Tolkien?

not legolas. also, if it were, he'd be pretty firmly in mythological humanoid race.

No questions or guesses in this post.

So, it has to be either Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, or Gandalf, right? Gandalf is an interesting case, because wizards are an established concept, but they're not depicted as their own race much outside of Tolkien. You could say that Tolkien invented Gandalf's race (Maiar). Gimli, like Legolas, is firmy mythological, Aragorn and Boromir are firmly human (Aragorn has non-human ancestry, but not enough to warrant a "no" to the human question).

I was convinced it was Treebeard until you answered "yes" to the Fellowship question.

Apologies for burning through questions, but we're basically there anyway and as a Lord of the Rings enthusiast, I'd love to win this one lol.

I can put another guess as my second-in-a-row.

Frodo Baggins

I think this has to be the answer. Merry was born in 1382, and Sam was born in 1380.

And we have a winner!

I was flip-flopping on the mythological humanoid question, but ultimately decided to pass it since one could potentially argue one side or the other (hobbits do not explicitly appear in any mythology, but similarities are there, and some may consider hobbits to be close enough to count).

Yes! My fourth win!

I'm starting another round right now! I have someone I've wanted to do for a while that I think would be awesome.
