:oldforum: Ten Commandments :oldforum:

Ⅰ Only binary questions may be asked.

Ⅱ If a binary question does not have a yes-or-no answer, the question master must not count the question.

Ⅲ All other binary questions will be answered and count towards a twenty-question limit, regardless of whether they were designated as 'conditional'.

Ⅳ One guess per person does not count against the total twenty questions, but additional guesses by the same person do.

Ⅴ After all twenty questions are answered, there are no more free guesses, and five total guesses are allowed.

Ⅵ No player shall ask more than two consecutive questions or make more than two consecutive guesses (or a consecutive combination thereof) before another player has asked a question or made a guess.

Ⅶ Before the twentieth question is answered, players who have not yet used their free guess may choose to expend their free guess alongside two consecutive questions.

Ⅷ The question master may choose entities real or fictional that are not horribly obscure, so long as they are not repeats.

Ⅸ Whoever guesses correctly takes over from the previous question master; if they do not want to do it, they may choose who to pass the duty onto or just give it to the first volunteer.

Ⅹ If the question master remains undefeated three times in a row, on the third time they must either pass it to a person of their choice, or the first volunteer takes over.

:oldforum: Further Guidance. :oldforum:

Ⅰ. The point of the game is to ask 20 binary (yes/no) questions in order to guess the person or character that the question master hath selected. Only binary questions capable of being answered 'yes' or 'no' are valid.

Ⅱ. If a binary question does not have a yes-or-no answer (for example because the question master determines that the answer relies too much on a subjective interpretation or because a technically accurate answer might be unfairly misleading), the question master must decline to answer the question (in which case the question does not count against the total) or ask that the question be rephrased (which only counts if the player resubmits it). The question master may provide additional hints outside of responses to questions entirely at their whim, but any free information that the question master chooses to give out does not count against the question total.

Ⅲ. Players may not make a question conditional on the outcome of a pending question. E.g., if one player asks 'Is the person over 50?' and someone else then asks 'If yes, do they wear a monocle?' then the question master must answer the second question even if the answer to the first is no. Players may make guesses conditional on the outcome of a question, though.

Ⅳ. One 'free' guess per person does not count against the total twenty questions, but additional guesses by the same person do.

Ⅴ. After twenty questions are answered, there are no more free guesses, and five more guesses in total are allowed.

Ⅵ. No player shall ask more than two consecutive questions before another player has asked a question or made a guess. If a player has already used their free guess, or if the game is in the final round of 5 guesses after the 20th question, guesses that would use a question/guess slot count for this rule.

Ⅶ. Before the twentieth question is answered, players who have not yet used their free guess may choose to expend their free guess alongside two consecutive questions. (For the avoidance of doubt, you may not exchange your free guess for two additional questions).

Ⅷ. The question master may choose entities real or fictional that are not horribly obscure, so long as they are not repeats. Question masters and players are discouraged from throwing darts at crowds of people.

Ⅸ. Whoever guesses correctly takes over from the previous question master; if they do not want to do it, they may choose who to pass the duty onto or just give it to the first volunteer.

Ⅹ. If the question master remains undefeated three times in a row, the person who made the most wrong guesses, during those three victorious rounds, must roast a duck in their honor.

Good luck!

Free clue: not a fictional duck.

It looks like the answer is yes; of course, we should acknowledge that the idea of "country" has evolved over time (you know that he was born in before 1800).

This is an interesting question. I personally would not classify any of the endeavors he is known for as falling under the umbrella of "the arts". However, I can point to a specific example that shows he himself thought that some of what he did was "art".

In a bit of a grump this morning, old chap? I don't recall that particular response being favoured in any of the Blackadder scripts. I confess to hoping for something a bit more creative, or at the very least a recognition of the implication that I haven't the foggiest idea what a standardised flag is either
