Haymitch Abernathy?
And that is correct! JECE is the winner!

Wow you got that fast after the hint, although I suppose it probably wasn't too difficult with the questions asked.

Congrats!

Right, the hint narrowed it down immensely. I just had to read about the handful of main characters and eliminate all the women, young people and antagonists.

He sure is. He's a well-written character in my opinion, who has a well thought out personality and arc throughout the books. The trauma of his hunger games, and the despair in failing to get a district 12 tribute to survive for nearly 25 years, really makes me feel bad for him, and is a good way to explain how he doesn't initially care about Katniss and Peeta, but is a good obstacle to overcome

Anyway I'll stop rambling about Haymitch. I was originally just going to go with Katniss actually, but figured she might be a little too easy. I figured Haymitch wasn't too obscure, as anyone who read the book would certainly know who he is, but challenging enough he may not be the first thing that comes to your mind

One of those situations where if you've read the book it's a fun challenge and if you haven't it's damn near impossible, I guess. But he does seem to be a significant character. More of a Mr. Tumnus than a Mrs. Beaver.

I never read the books. I did see one of the movies, but it was a decade ago and I didn't remember Mr. Abernathy. It was really just as simple as finding the clue and then doing a quick internet search to see where that quote was from.

No doubt. Out of curiosity, what was the quote?

So you're not talking about Ralph Abernathy, are you?

No because "Haymitch" is not a common spelling of "Ralph".

Yup. When DarthPorg said that the clue was that we already got the clue, I was actually confused because I couldn't find a clue before that... I just didn't go back far enough in the thread.

I think they maybe say his last name in the first movie maybe once? I can't remember for sure... and I agree that knowing that was the quote makes Haymitch a pretty simple find (can't believe I didn't think of it, in fact.)
